blyle Posted January 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Text message says ship will arrive late, boarding at 2:30. $50 obc per person but due to lost of propulsion may not make the ports. Not a good thing!!!
Fabulouskristen Posted January 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Just got the email from Carnival, delayed departure tomorrow. The email says departure will be between 2:30-5:30. This is due to a problem with something affecting the ships maximum cruising speed. Does it seem to anyone else like that has been happening to a LOT of Carnival ships lately?! It also says that we will only be visiting either Progreso OR Cozumel, not both as planned, and we will stay overnight. They have not yet said which one. We are being offered $50 OBC each. Any idea what time we should show up at the port? The email says 2:30 but I know sometimes an email gets sent that is designed to space people out at the ports. sanmarcosman Posted January 28, 2013 #3 Share Posted January 28, 2013 The Carnival fleet seems to have an epidemic of the propulsion flu.

That's what happened to us on the Magic inaugural cruise. Two days in the lovely industrial port of Progreso

truecruiser Posted January 28, 2013 #12 Share Posted January 28, 2013 ...Does it seem to anyone else like that has been happening to a LOT of Carnival ships lately?... i think these things go in cycles. so much wear and tear, parts wear out :( About 5-7 years ago (i'm guessing), this was going on with the fantasy class ships too. I honestly hope it works out okay for you. The recent splendor problem wasn't wear and tear. It was fishing nets. Not sure what the problem with your ship is, but hopefully they will be able to get the necessary parts. If you are still leaving on the same day you were due to leave, you shouldn't have the biggest problem the splendor had which was the ship being in port on a day it isn't supposed to and stuck without a slip. I doubt you will sleep there. Only in Bermuda have I ever been on a ship that stayed tied up overnight. My guess is that they will untie, sail 3 miles out, and open the casinos and shops and return again the next morning. Sorry to hear about this. Hope it goes well. Bandman Posted January 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Of course, it could all be coincidence, but all these propulsion problems have me wondering if they have cut back on routine maintenance to save $

nonna5 Posted January 28, 2013 #19 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Most likely Progreso. That's what happened to us on the Magic inaugural cruise. Two days in the lovely industrial port of Progreso I was on that cruise also. Carnival offered a night time excursion to the ruins that was fantastic. I would have never been able to see the light show at the ruins if we had not overnighted. So lemonade was definitely made from lemons.

MrPete Posted January 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted January 28, 2013 I wonder how many have cancelled I would cancel not for the change of ports, but the ire of the passengers not liking the port changes up to and including protests in the atrium looking for and demanding all kinds of silly retribution. rickechambers1@aol.com Posted January 28, 2013 #22 Share Posted January 28, 2013 Mr. Pete...you said the same for the Jan 13 Splendor cruise that was shortened by one day and also had port deleted. It was a great cruise and heard no grumbling. Geez.

Omg, I remember that melee. That was sooo bad. The video is still probably floating around somewhere in cyberspace. Wasn’t Uncle Bob at the helm back then, and weren’t the main culprits who organized the disastrous compromise of safety on the ship banned from Carnival for life because of it?
