Triumph cruise not that bad

When I went on a cruise earlier this year I brought a flashlight thinking "why would I really need this" In the future I am going to bring 2. Not that I expect an emergency, but a small flashlight is a great idea. I am even bringing one now to hotels, just keep it in my suitcase. It is great to read a positive outlook article, I would have tried to do the same thing in the situation. I don't care for potato chip and mustard sandwiches, but hey, it's free.

Check out the videos I posted links to on a post I made last night and they show it wasn't to bad.

Below is a passenger video on Sunday night when passengers were in search of WiFi from the Elation.

Below are a ton of other videos of this passenger Devin Marble on the Triumph.

There are about 25 short videos.

Here are five more video's by another passenger. Sean Dodson

Live entertainment. Just like another sea day.

Very good attitude. When she said they viewed it as an 8 day cruise instead of 4 got me to thinking............so will Carnival count this as 4 or 8 VIFP points?Just one of my quirky thoughts about this whole thing.

I have wondered about this too. Seems I remember reading a 'free' cruise didn't count towards Platinum...

OP thanks for sharing the link, great article.

EXCERPT:

“It was like camping at sea,” said Kirk Draut, who was aboard the Carnival Triumph with his wife, Patty. “People were playing it up for the cameras. When we saw the first helicopters with cameras, people were running into their cabins to grab their bathrobes and life preservers.”

Mr. Draut posted photos of one meal — two cheeseburgers with all the trimmings and two hot dogs with relish. One breakfast included scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and toast with jam.

He posted photos of resupply ships, which delivered food and ice for the passengers and crew. The “onion sandwich” myth came about, he said, because some people were loading up their burgers with extra meat.

“I was eating chicken fajitas and shrimp cocktails. They’re sitting in deck chairs charging their phones and telling some TV station how god-awful it was,” he said. “It was not god-awful.”

I believe Carnival's policy states that if a cruise is extended for any reason, you get points for the actual number of days on the ship. Usually this is only one extra day because of weather conditions. If the length of the cruise is shortened for any reason, you get the number of points that you would have gotten had the cruise not been shortened.

It seems there were a great many people who handled that situation well. I hope that if something like that ever occurs when I'm cruising, that I am fortunate enough to sail with a ship full of people like that....although when that was happening, I was also cruising on another ship/line with some family, including my 76 year old MIL....and I know in my heart what happened on the Triumph would have been extremely difficult for her to handle and would have caused the rest of us quite a bit of stress.

You would be surprised , many times the older folks handle a situation better than the younger folks .

My sisters and I will be all worried about my Mom in certain situations and she will be fine . In fact she will tell us to stop asking if she is Ok, we're getting on her nerves *LOL*

I used to make fun of my mother for always bringing a flashlight, until we were on the Fantasy and lost power while docked in Cozumel. We had a suite, so there was light in the cabin, but those bathrooms are DARK! I now carry a purse size maglite all the time for vision reasons (can't see in the dark to sign receipts, etc.) so I always have it on the ship.

This couple has a fantastic attitude, I wish there were more positive stories like this one in the news.

I agree to an extent, but pooping in bags is testing someone that age's fortitude a little too much I think.

:p

I'm just glad everyone on that ship is OK
