Never been on the Majesty or out of Charleston, but have cruised on other NCL ships.

Usually there are two shows each night (one at like 7:30 or 8 and the other at like 9:30). Depends on how you want to spend your evening. We always go to dinner when the restaurants open and then catch the early show leaving the rest of the evening free to go to lounges or casino. (usually there is additonal entertainment in the lounges). Others prefer going to the early show and then having a late dinner since the dining rooms are open to 9:30 or 10. Of course you could have dinner around 6 or 6:30 and catch the late show.

There is a chocoholic buffet at 11:30 on one night of the cruise. What they offer varied from ship to ship, but I don't remember any alchohol at the buffet. We don't drink, so I can't be of much help in that area, but the one thing I have heard (and noticed) is that NCL is not cheap on alcohol and doesn't give away many freebies in that area. Also, don't even think of bringing your own alcohol on board!

I have been on the Majesty twice.....and was just on this past May....

There are drink specials every day and there is a martini clinic....There are also wine specials....

As far as special coffees are concerned, you can get them free in the dining room.....Cappucinos, espresso....

There is a specialty coffee bar menu and there is a fee...

We love the Majesty so we can't really say what we do not like :)..I have been on 10 cruises...big and small ships and the crew on the Majesty is fantastic!

The great thing about freestyle is that you can eat whenever you want.....either before the shows or after..even in your cabin.....Usually there are 2 different times for the shows....

Have a great time!

I too my first cruise on the Majesty (out of Charleston) on 11/27/04 and loved it! Smaller ship but service is fantastic.

The freestyle dining was my favorite concept. I could eat where and when I wanted to. Also, the ice cream is to die for!

Some hotel's in Charleston offer free parking for the duration of your cruise if you book with them. Also, try some hotels in Mount Pleasant, SC (Just across the bridge from Charleston) about a 5 minute drive.

You can also read reviews of this ship on this board.

This is "basketballmom's" favorite ship so I'm sure you'll be hearing from her soon.

Drink prices are pretty standard for NCL -- check out the daily specials, and they also have the helmets of beer, which is always a good deal. If you're a latitudes, member, drinks are 20% off in the Rendezvouz lounge -- this is a very comfortable spot, btw, to wait for your table at Four Seasons. We always check with the host/hostess, put our name down, then wait in this lounge until our table is ready.

A great drink, and a great deal, is a "golden dawn" for $2.50 -- we drank many of these on our last cruise! Refreshing and YUMMY!

We didn't do the honeymoon package on our last Majesty cruise, though we did do this on our Dawn cruise, and it's a great deal. They post daily drink specials in the FreeStyle daily -- be sure to read (and highlight) this every evening!

On our 5/8 cruise, they did have the wine special -- buy 5 get one free -- good deal if you like wine with dinner every night. And if you don't finish the bottle, you DO NOT have to leave it for them to store until the next night -- you can bring it with you, to a lounge or your stateroom.

I'm pretty sure they had a martini clinic, but we must have missed it -- however, after all the talk here on CC, we surely won't miss the next one!! :p

What's wonderful about the Majesty? The CREW, the small size of the ship (easy to get around), we have never had a bad meal (including the buffet -- we did actually eat dinner there one night on two different cruises!!). Love the forward topside decks on port days -- nice and quiet, and the bar staff does come to wait on you -- much better than trying to find a spot by the pool. Love the latitudes lounge! The shops are not too bad, and much more reasonably priced than the Dawn. However, if you want to buy Black Seal Rum or Bermuda Gold (or other flavours of Bermuda liquors) buy them in port -- NCL no longer has a "deal" with Bermuda to stock these items! :(

Check your freestyle daily for showtimes, and plan your meals accordingly -- you can typically get through dinner in an hour to an hour and 15 minutes. We liked having dinner around 7:30 or so, and going to the later shows (9:30).

LOTS to see in Boston if you're coming in a few days before -- we're from outside (50 minutes) the city but I'm sure there's others here that can help you with things to do pre-cruise. Duck boats, tour Fenway Park, Fanuel (sp??) hall, the Aquarium, MFA, the Hatch Shell and a walk along the Charles, to name a few!

Enjoy the Majesty!! We just love her! :D

Actually, I've never been on a cruise before. My family and I are going to Bermuda on the Majesty on August 21st. I've become addicted to these boards the last few months. There's so much good info that it helps build up the excitement of the upcoming cruise!

love the bar menu, just looked at all the tasty drinks and ready for one now... I hear about bringing an insulated mug with you,,, can use it for java in the am and then use it for cocktails later, or soda... do you really see many people walking around with this kind of thing or for the most part, folks use the bar glasses

You'll see all kinds of drink containers, some from home, some from the daily drink specials, some from the bars and some bought on the cruise. I wouldn't use the same one for coffee and then other drinks. They tend to hold the coffee taste which make your other drinks taste kind of funny.

I lived in Charleston for 3 years while i was getting my masters degree from the medical univsersity. There are some good restraunts in Mt. Plesant. There is an area called shem creek that has several restraunts there, it is right on the water and it is beautiful at sunset and you get to see the shrimp boats pull in and unload. There are some good restruants downtown along the market. AW Shucks, Bubba Gumps, noisy oyster, wild wing cafe, just to name a few. it really depends on what kind of food you are looking for. Hope this helps. i will be going on the majesty on 11/19 so keep it clean for me :)
