Sapphire Princess Corkage Fees

Recommended Posts

Can anybody confirm if the $15 corkage fee for the bottle of wine you can bring on board is really imposed when you bring the wine to the dining room?

We've been on other cruise lines that say they have a corkage fee but it is often not imposed.

Thank you.

Princess is in the process of changing their policy. By June 1, they are supposed to be charging $15 corkage fee as you bring bottles beyond the first one onto the ship

Thank you!

We are leaving next Saturday. Do you happen to know if they charge a corkage fee in the dining room if you bring only the one bottle per person that you are permitted to bring on board?

Thanks again.

Yes, the $15 charge is currently being enforced on Sapphire in both the MDR and also in the specialty restaurants. In fact, you pay up front, rather than at the end of the meal, as on most cruise lines.

Have cruised many times, often bring wine to the MDR have ALWAYS been charged the corkage. I believe it not being imposed is rare or an urban legend!

So you mean you pay when you present the bottle to our waiter?

This was our experience on Sapphire last month. They would offer to open the bottle and would request our cruise card.

Same experience on the Crown last year. I had to sign for the corkage before the first course arrived, all 7 nights.

Yes, this is what happened for us. We don't mind paying the corkage fee, it's just strange how they demand the cruise card info right then and there. Anyway, not a big deal, just different from our experience on Celebrity, HAL, and Carnival.

My experience with Celebrity is much like Princess. Good wait staff remember your information and don't ask for your card after the first night - they just charge your room for the corkage each night. If requested, they will set the table with better glasses and if you have a bottle of wine worthy of it, they will decant for you.

We have experienced many different situations regarding corkage fees. There have been times when the waiter has asked for our cruise card when we present the bottle - times when we get the bill at the end of our dinner. Our last cruise, we were not charged at all for any corkage fee. Was it because we were in the Owner's Suite? I honestly don't really know??

We usually take our champagne when we eat in the specialty restaurants, which is a good part of our cruise. When in the dining room, we will order a bottle of wine or champagne.
