We are using them next month. I have read some very good reviews previously about them on the CC boards.

A lot of people use Ray's Transfer Service(sorry I don't have the link),but I use the bus service and then pick a stop closest to my hotel, and if I can't walk it with suitcase I grab a cab.Never had a problem.

We used Steve Knibbs at nibbs@airport-transfers.fsnet from Dover to London. The service was very good. We booked with car service 2000 for London to Gatwick transfers for travel yesterday. They never showed up and with the subway strike cabs were almost impossible to find. Our doorman finally found a taxi, but we almost missed our flight. I emailed them and hope to get a response. I arranged for the transfer in January. They could have contacted us at the hotel. Has anyone else had a problem with them?

We used Airportransfers last May when we went from Heathrow to Harwich.
Malcolm drove and he was just great. Met us as scheduled - then picked us up when the ship came back and delivered us to our hotel. We stayed in London three nights and he came back and took us back to Heathrow.
No problems. Very dependable - just takes a while sometimes to answer the e-mails, in the end I decided it was better to phone him.
He gave us a discount because we used him both ways, so we paid him half of the total at the end of our first journey and the rest when we came back.
Then just paid him for the trip back to the airport.
Sorry to hear that. We've used them once before and had a very good experience. Good enough that I've booked with them again for our 8/23 Royal Princess cruise. I'm a bit anal about details, so I always confirm my reservations a day or two before I'm booked. I would hope that if there was going to be a problem, that it would become apparent during my "confirmation" call.

I hope you at least get an apology from them.

CaptBill,
I am surprised about their service, or non-service,. They really seemed organized when I booked with them. We tried to call and all we got was voice mail. I have had no reply to my email with them. I hope you have better luck with them than we did. I only booked with them because Steve Knibbs was completely booked, six months in advance.

Hi Everyone,
If there is anyone still looking for inexpensive transportation from and/or to the airport, I just booked ours with Hotelink. It's a minibus and the total for 2 people each way is $38.00 USD.
This rate is only available by going to the British Airways web-site. And, no you do not have to have your flight with British Airways. If you go to the hotelink web-site the price is considerably more.
You can find this deal at www.ba.com Then click on hotels-cars-holidays, then sightseeing, then transfers. There you will enter your pick-up info and it will then give you choices of transfers, the minibus at $38.00 is the first one.
I hope this is helpful to someone.

I checked into Hotelink some time ago regarding transport from Gatwick to Central London. Their service from Gatwick actually consists of 2 parts ... They will put you on the train at Gatwick, and then will transfer you via minibus from Victoria Station to your hotel. I decided against Hotelink for us, since once we get to Victoria Station we will be within walking distance of our hotel anyway, and it's cheaper for me to buy my own train tickets. Anybody choosing to use Hotelink from Gatwick should be aware that it's not going to transport you directly from Gatwick to your hotel in one minibus ride, you will also be taking a train ride.

I'm glad you posted about Heathrow, since I had only investigated Gatwick. Now that I know Hotelink operates a more direct service out of Heathrow, I'll add them to my files for future reference in case we ever use that airport.

Thanks for the info about the British Air site and Hotelink. I went to the website and not only got the cheap transfer (it was a lot higher on hotelink's site) but also saved money on some sighteeing tours. The Big Bus price was cheaper than it was on the Big Bus' website buying over the internet! They even had sightseeing in other cities we are visiting and their prices are definately lower.

Great info - thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the information on Hotelink and the directions on how to find it on ba.com The last piece of the trip-planning puzzle was transport from Heathrow to our London hotel. 'Does it work as well as it sounds?
Will use the train from London to Harwich.

"...no you do not have to have your flight with British Airways...."

It seems that you don't have to book a flight with BA, but when I tested it out, it came up with "...to your chosen British Airways Holidays accommodation in central London..." So, it looks like you have to book thru them for your hotel in order to use the services. Anyone find this different?

I too was planning to use hotelLinks, but changed my mind because of luggage limits and the long journey. I have read several posts saying that the bus may stop at more than one terminal to pick up passengers and then has to stop at the various hotels to let everyone off, which could take up to two hours or more.
I have found this car service which is very close in price to the bus, but have not heard anything about them. Their web address is www.justairports.com.
There is also another one www.city-transfers.com

Has anyone heard of either of these car services? Any input would be much appreciated.

We used Eddie Manning for our transfer from London to Heathrow (http://www.limo.co.uk/heathrow.htm). Eddie was great and made sure we had the right vehicle to transport 2 women and our 'ton' of luggage. He arrived in a new Mercedes and we had more than enough room and a very comfortable ride.
