Celebrity's transfers London/Dover

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have any feedback, positive or negative, for the bus transfer from London Heathrow to the cruise terminal to Dover? I read one post that had a terrible experience and I am reluctant to use Celebrity to get down there. But at $134.00 round trip, their price is the best I've found. But, I really don't want to start my vacation with a bad experience! Would someone let me know what they think? Thanks so much, Stephanie

Hi Stephanie,

With the change in the CC boards I didn't see your message earlier. If you are still interested I may be able to provide some information about Heathrow to Dover transfers. We have traveled from Heathrow to Harwich several times, both with RCI transfers and by Rail. We are sailing from Dover in September, and have decided to either share a for hire car with another couple, or take the National Express bus service.

Hi Peter,
Yes! I am still interested...as I think a LOT of people on the boards are. It's so tough to decide whether to use a particular company or not...I truly rely on the advice I find here. Thank you! Stephanie

I just want to post a bad experience with carservice 2000. We had hired them in January to transfer us from London to Gatwick. We were to be picked up on June 30, which just happened to be the start of a 24 hr. subway strike. They did not arrive nor did they call us at the hotel to tell us they were delayed. We waited 20 minutes and finally found a taxi to Gatwick. The taxi charged 105GBP compared to the 50 pounds car service 2000 quoted us. We came close to missing our flight and this put a damper on an otherwise wonderful trip. We tried to reach them by phone but only got voice mail. I emailed them after we got home and they never replied. Hopefully, no one else has this experience.

Hi Stephanie,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. We are leaving for the Constellation, from Dover. on Sept 5. We have just gotten a group of ten together, from these boards, to share a mini-bus to Dover. We couldn't use the Celebrity Dover transfers as we were coming into Dover two days before sailing. The bus will cost us about $40.00 US each one way, as we are taking a trans Atlantic cruise. We have taken RCI transfers to Harwich twice, and have had very good service. It can take a little while to get started because you may have pax from several planes on your bus, but your transfer will be well organized. The cruise ship transfers may seem to be expensive but you want to be sure that you have a good connection to LHR when you return from your cruise so that you have ample time to make your flight connection.

If you have time to use local transportation there are rail and bus services available to Dover. Both options require that you take the shuttle from Heathrow terminal 3 to terminal 2 central bus terminal. The National Express bus will then take you to Victoria Station Bus terminal (about $20) where you change buses to Dover (about$20}. If interested you can get schedules and prices at www.nationalexpress.com. For the train you will have to travel about a block or so to the Victoria Station and catch the train ( railexpress). While cheaper it will require additional time, and if you have much luggage the cruise transfer may be best. We have taken the train to Harwich and enjoyed the trip, but it did require a bit of work with our bags.
