Apartments in London

Recommended Posts

Has anyone stayed at the 2 Hyde Park Square apartments in London? I'm looking for a serviced apartment in the city for a few days before heading to Harwich. Any idesa and/or suggestions? I like the apartments for the space, the kitchen and the washer & dryer.
Thank you

The apartments are beautiful and the price is not bad BUT it seems to be a distance from the City proper. Is the underground near? What are the water taxis like? I've been to London many many times but never on a water taxi.

The Tube (Canada Waters) is about 15 minutes walk from the apartments but they run a free courtesy bus about hourly from morning until quite late at night (About 11pm I think) so it is no problem getting there.

The water taxis are a very short walk from the apartments and are great for an unusual view of London. You pass under Tower Bridge and can get off at many piers along the way.

We have never felt out of it when we stop there and in fact for a visitor the view of real Britain might make a refreshing change from the slightly mad world of central London.

As I said I love it there, the staff are very friendly and the pub next door is also very good.

Nick.

You can find the ferry timetables here on the Thames Clippers website. Greenland Pier is the nearest stop to these apartments. I also highly recommend it; I sometimes use this ferry to get to work (but not from this stop).

Another alternative is to use the public bus. You can see the location of the apartments on this map. The yellow road that becomes pink is Salter Road, becoming Redriff Road. If you click the "Large Map" link you will see this more clearly.

The 381 bus runs along this road (as well as the night bus N381). If you go to Transport for London's Journey Planner you can get timetables etc. for the bus. Taking it towards Waterloo Station, it will go past Rotherhithe station (East London Line), Bermondsey station (Jubilee Line), then near Tower Bridge, to London Bridge Station, past the Bankside area (eg Globe Theatre, Tate Modern etc.) to Waterloo. The 381 also goes to Canada Water station in the other direction.

There is also a 225 bus that runs along Rotherhithe Street (the one closest to the river just north from the apartments) which goes towards town as far as Bermondsey station, and past Canada Water station in the other direction.

You can get see these routes marked on this bus map (PDF file, neads Acrobat Reader).
