Just back from the Triumph!!!

What a great cruise we just had. 2 nights to nowhere.

Here is a short review.

This cruise was taken with my 2 boys and mother as a quick getaway.

We took the Weehawken ferry to NYC and walked up a couple of piers to the ship.

We arrived at 10:30 am and the weather was already starting to push the mid 80's. The Triumph was out of pier 88 berth 2.

Inside the Terminal was rest rooms and a little snack bar waters are $1.50. The terminal was air-conditioned and they had rows of seats set up in the outer area. You had to sit there in the rows and at about 11:45 they started taking you in by rows to the security checkpoints. Once thru security it took us 10 mins to get checked in and pictures taken and then onto the ship.

Here is were it really got great. We booked a Balcony Guarantee and boy did the Upgrade fairy really show up we were assigned at the pier Empress 7259.

it was a Suite :p :p I'm bringing the carryons into the room and my younger son was the first one in the cabin yells out there is a Jacuzzi in the room. It was great 2 bad my wife had to stay home and work :D

But anyway, the Triumph was gourgeous 2 decks up was the pool and 2 decks down was the promenade and our room was right next to the front end elevators so we walked up and down everywhere.

We changed our seating to 8 pm in the Paris because the 5:45 was to early for dinner. We had 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 2 dinners in the Paris and the food was excellent especially last night with Surf and turf with an extra turf. The tails were about 7-8 inches long they were pretty big.

The casino was kind to me on the first night I won $175.00 on the Blackjack Table. ( to the lady that was hitting hard 17's to a dealers face up 6 this is for you  ) At that point I had to get up and go.

We went down to the Piano Bar and Damian was playing and he was one of the best that I have ever heard.

The 2 shows were outstanding.

As you can tell we had a wonderful time and only wished we were there for 7 nights instead of the 2 my scheduled allowed us.

If anyone has any questions I will be more than happy to answer, also if I can figure out how to stream video I will post some footage.

Tom, we are on the Triumph on 9/17 driving in from Pittsburgh. We had planned to park at the Weehauken Ferry and get to the port that way. Did everything go well with that plan - would you recommend it? DH doesn't walk long distances well - should we plan to catch a taxi from the ferry port to the Triumph. Any other suggestions? Hotel the night before in the NJ area?

Hi, we were on the same cruise and also had a great time.

The only thing we did not like was the timing of the Cocktail Party. It was at 7:00. Our dinnertime was 6:15. There was no way we were done by 7:00.

We also noticed that the late seating had their show at 7:00. I wonder if anyone was able to make the party. Were you?

Other than that, it was a fabulous cruise?

It is about a 10 min walk to the triumph from the ferry pier, We had only carryon luggage since it was only a 2 nt cruise, it would probally take you longer to get to the pier using a taxi since they have to turn around, drive up to 57th st and turn around into the pier area

There is a walkway that goes from the Ferry past the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier and the Circle line area and into the pier 88 and the triumph is usually in the first pier.

No we did the 7 pm show that night. they should have put the shows off till after the Captains Party, but as you know they didn't.

Was their a hotel close by??? And is there a place to park a car??

Thanks for your help

I would get a Hotel in NJ in Seacaucus and in the Morning head to the pier, there is pier parking right at the ship.

i am so glad you had a very nice time. i leave on june 23 to canada and i can't wait. i question for you, was the empress deck quite? i have a room on the empress deck

Tina,

We were located right by the front elevators and didn't here anything.

But also remember the Kids in the NJ & NY area are still in school, so there were not that many kids on the ship, it might be differant when you cruise.

Glad you had a good time. A friend of mine from work will be on Triumph tomorrow. Do you have any pictures to post. I'm especially interested in interior public areas such as the lobby area. Thanks.

We are booked for Sept 5th. Wondering if there is any difference between the London and Paris dining rooms. Should we try to request one or the other? We are on the Empress Deck in an extended balcony cabin. I dont expect an upgrade but that would be nice. Glad you had a great trip.

Here is how I understand it.

The Paris Dining room is in the back of the ship and has three sides of windows and had the first and third seatings.

(although they might have changed the name to "Freedom Dining Room")

The London is amidships and had the second and fourth seatings.

If I am wrong please correct me as I want to know also

When you board go see the Maitre'd and ask for the Paris, you can possibly get a table right next to the window in the aft and get a great view of the wake.

We had our Dinner at 8pm in the Paris.
