Live from Eclipse

We're in San Juan today so am catching up while I can use my US mobile hot spot. Lovely ship. Food has been good so far (we're only 3 days in). The staff at the iLounge tell me that they have a new satellite provider and they don't know how good the Internet connection will be. I can tell you that I had a hard time connecting yesterday. I think connectivity may be spotty once we hit the crossing segment of the cruise.

Many many folks dressed up for formal night. I saw a lot of tuxes & cocktail dresses.

Have seen exactly 3 children. If there are more they must be hiding in the kids and teen clubs.

No chair hogging issues - so far. Let's see what those long sea days are like.

I've seen a couple of people try to use one beverage package for multiple drinks & the bartenders are having a hard time with it.. One told me that pax are going go thenF&B manager to complain about them when they are just doing their job. People - the packages aren't meant to be shared!

We have vouchers for drinks and we like this set up. The last 2 evenings we have hung out at the Pool Bar.

I will try to check in later & answer any questions.

Glad you're having a great time. On Eclipse in July to Iceland/Norway so will be a bit cooler than your cruise!

What is the music like? There are many, many complaints about too loud techno music everywhere.

I haven't heard any overly loud music. The only time it seems to be louder is when there is a line dancing or Zumba class on the pool deck. Lots if nice jazz, string quartet, the a Capella group. The average age is probably 60+ - so maybe the cd has taken this into account?

Hi Janine,

I'd say that's doubtful. For the most part, it was an older crowd on the last Caribbean sailing, and the CD could not do much about the guest comments. What I'm wondering, is if Celebrity changes the types of music and entertainment, now that Eclipse is headed to Europe. At any rate, it's good to hear that the music has been turned down.

I wish you have a wonderful Cruise !

Have a great time Janine!! Take good care of the Eclipse for us!! Can you find out if the Captain and CD are going to stay the whole summer season. I will also like to hear about the shows. We had great shows on the Equinox and Lindsay Hamilton as a guest performer. Just wondering about the entertainment on the Eclipse. Keep having fun and enjoy the beautiful Eclipse :):)

I was also on the Eclipse TA and had a fantastic time...and am also now in London for a couple days post-cruise. I have concluded that I need to go on shorter cruises in future though: first, because I was so exhausted lugging my suitcases through the Tube system and the streets of London...makes me VERY glad that I'm not physically disabled as I'm not sure how someone in a wheelchair or who had to use crutches could possibly navigate London. Second, with all the clothes I have in my suitcases, only my stretchy pants still fit me so my wardrobe options are very limited!

A shorter cruise would limit my weight gain and the size/weight of my luggage. Or I guess I could try to exercise some restraint in my packing and eating next time! :)

Oh well, one more trip through the Tube labyrinth tomorrow to Heathrow and I'll head back home and onto my diet. *sigh*

LOL!! Our Baltic cruise is two weeks long!!! I really need to lose some weight before the cruise and use the gym during the cruise!!

BTW! how was the entertainment? Do you know if Perry Grant is going to stay through the summer season? What did you think about the Captain and CD? and again, do you know if they are going to stay in the Eclipse during the summer?:):)

Janine & Bottomfeeder: Looking forward to your reviews!!!

I don't have any info on who will be Captain or CD or if Perry Grant is staying. Hopefully others will be able to help you with those questions. The CD seemed good to me - there were lots of activities I was interested in so that's about all I ask for. I am not a fan of most cruise ship entertainment but did like a couple of the acts (Mike Doyle, who was not staying on the ship, Top Shelf, the a cappella group & the jazz combo). We did catch Perry Grant's show in both the Sky Lounge & the Theatre & fully enjoyed both.

I started on my review on the flight from London so it will be out in a couple of days.

Hi

If you run into Joann at Cafe al Bacio or Chris (wine steward in the MDR) would you please tell him hi from Ryan and his grandparents? He is wonderful, as is Joann his wife. We had them on our March cruise and are hoping against hope that when the request Equinox for next year they get it as we will be sailing on her in April.

Our MDR waiter was Roy and his assistant Jose, our regular wine steward was Steven. They were top-notch and so attentive. Hope you run into them at some point.

Enjoy your cruise!

Pat C
