beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2013 A little about me and my Dh first. My husband and I are in our mid 30’s. This is my 3rd Carnival cruise and his 2nd. I am going to break down our trip a little bit based on some of the things we experienced, and throw in a few photos. Faster to the Fun: We liked it. We would use it again. Pretty much just walked right on the ship. I can’t say if it was useful for tender ports. I am sure it would have been. We had a Carnival excursion in Belize, and they moved the Grand Cayman tenders right along pretty quick. I still think it’s worth the $50. Cheers: Not worth the money for us. I saved all my receipts added it all up in the end. We drank at the Alchemy bar every night. My DH drank beer mostly during the day. It totaled about $ 550 for the both of us. I am not a heavy drinker, but I am still glad we purchased it because I did try lots of drinks I normally would not have.
beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted April 28, 2013 2.0 upgrades. Guys Burgers: Pretty good. Nice and sloppy like a burger should be. I had them twice. Fries were thick cut steak fries. I liked those too. Toppings bar is a nice touch. Blue Iguana Cantina: I had tacos and they were good. I liked the salsa bar and I was looking for chips but there was none lol. My DH had a burrito and a breakfast burrito. He said both were pretty good. Red Frog Rum Bar and Blue Iguana Tequila bar. My Dh and I preferred the rum bar, but our friends like the tequila bar better. It’s a matter of preference. On a side note. My husband did like Thirsty red frog beer. He mostly drank those when we were not at the Alchemy bar.
beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Alchemy bar: Oh how I loved this place. Inna and Dario are wonderful bartenders! They made us some of the most unusual and amazing drinks I have ever had! You must stop here and have a drink! My favorites were the Cucumber Sunrise and the Spicy Chipotle Pineapple. Dh and I were here every night. We also took the Mixology Class with Dario. Very informative and fun! EA Sports bar: DH is a sports guy and he liked going here. Especially since the football draft was going on. They have IPads on some of the tables so I would play some games while he watched TV.
beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 Author #4 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Punchliners Brunch: Meh I could take it or leave it. I had fruit loops French toast and it was kind of gross. Dh said his omelet was ok. The comedian kept it light as it was family oriented. I still recommend you give it a try. Taste Bar: Only did this one day and it was just okay. DH really missed the sushi bar and said that’s the only thing he was disappointed about the trip. The Taste bar is in the spot where the sushi bar use to be. One thing about the sushi, we searched for it and could not find it. The Music: By the end of the week I felt the DJ’s were playing the same songs over again. They did have two different guys singing at different times. Can’t remember their names but I thought they both were pretty good. They had these two people singing in the lobby every night and I just thought they were terrible and they were always singing. I thought it was just me who thought that till I over heard someone say they were bad too. Lol

larkz Posted April 28, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Glad to hear about your experience with FTTF on Liberty. It's one of the few things I've splurged for on my upcoming cruise (a long, long time away, sadly!)
beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted April 28, 2013 A few other things I will mention. The food In general was decent. Same as past cruises. Did the steak house and love it there. I do recommend you do it. Food and experience in the steak house is excellent. We ate in the dining room most nights and did Anytime dining. Not sure if I will do this again. It has its pro’s and con’s I do like going whenever I feel like it. I did not feel I got the personal touch like when you have a set dinner time. Even if you ask for the same waiter. I felt like you kind of get forgotten about. So we shall see if we do this again. A few other things I will mention. The food In general was decent. Same as past cruises. beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 Author #10 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Port of calls: I am not going to get to detailed about this. If you have questions please feel free to ask. Cozumel: There is something special about this place. I will say that anyway because DH and I honeymooned there in August. We had a massage at Veronica Spa and it was the best I have had. We ate at our favorite restaurant in Cozumel. Poncho’s backyard. Belize: We did the Xaunatunich Myan ruins with Carnival. It was amazing. Just know it is a two hour bus ride to get there. It was informative as you learn about the country. This is a 3rd world country so you do see how much poverty is there. Roatan Honduras: This place is beautiful. We did zip lining and we did it with Rony’s tours. He was our own personal guide. We Zip lined from the highest point of Roatan and it was just beautiful above the tree lines. beans79 Posted April 28, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted April 28, 2013 Cayman Islands: My lease favorite port of call. Maybe if I experienced it a different way? I had a fun time with friends at the beach don’t get me wrong. I just felt that the Cayman Islands were very commercialized and way over priced. We took a taxi to 7 mile beach and they all charged $4 per person each way for a 2 mile drive. We had beach access at Royal Palms for 2 bucks a person. We had lunch there and it was $$$. I will have to book an excursion here next time so I can get a different side of the island. Over all we had a wonderful trip! We met some great people! I can’t wait to go on the next cruise! If you have any questions about my trip let me know!

It looks like the same horrible crap from my last Liberty cruise. I think one has to be a Carnival cultie to actually think its great stuff. Worst pizza I have ever had. Good thing I dont crusie for pizza but it was definitely the worst pizza ever. I dont get drunk do I never tried it that way.

I'm just wondering- am I the only one who thinks the "lobster" looks really small, tough, and.... Gray?

2toSea Posted April 28, 2013 #21 Share Posted April 28, 2013 We are booked on our seventh or eighth cruise, fourth on the Liberty, first since the 2.0. Your comment about the sushi bar has been my issue since they installed the taste bar in it's place. I heard there is Sushi on board but I forgot where. How was the C.D., casino band, and piano bar? Thanks for the review I really liked the pic's

Better then Goose on my last cruise on the Valor. I actually forgot to mention the Casino band. I thought they were pretty good. I wish got to listen to them more. I did not go into the piano bar. Every time I walked by it was not very busy. Yeah Dh was disappointed in no Sushi bar. We are thinking about going on the Breeze next and I read they have one. We did this itinerary with our kids in 2011 - I think you could do it 3-4 times before repeated activities. I love Belize - been 2 times: snorkeled first time and cave tubed the 2nd. Would love to do the ruins - just hate the bus ride.
