What a nice thing for carnival to do

Recommended Posts

HI,

Last Nov, my son took a 5 day cruise on fascination out of Jacksonville, I live in florida, so he treated me to the cruise, while here to visit me. He knows how much I love to cruise.

Now that was 6 months ago, he called me this morning, saying he got a check in the mail from carnival for 115.00 that they said was a refund from the casino.

The nice part about this, he had no Idea, never asked for any money, and they took it above themselves to send him money, he did not even know he left behind.

So Just wanted to post his, as there is so much negative stuff about carnival so this is a good positive, they are honest.

That is very nice. Money in the mail is always a good thing. But why did he get it?

Must have had a balance in his slot machine "bank."

The only thing he can figure is he left money on his card, when putting it into the machines, but he said he thought he had cashed out. So he really did not know for sure. But he thought it was nice of them to send money back, that he had no idea he left behind.

And I wanted to share that with carnival people.:D

Very nice. They could have kept it and nobody would be the wiser. You should treat yourself and use it for a deposit on another cruise. :p

Hmmm, that might explain why I never received my $115 refund from the casino and Carnival said they couldn't find it. ;)

When our 'Sandy' cruise was canceled we received money back that was 'labeled' a casino refund.

We were on the ship an hour or so. Casino hadn't even opened.

I can't remember what it actually was a refund of, just know that it wasn't from the casino.

Enjoy it! ;)

Def a nice surprise. Hope your son enjoys the money.

It seems like they finally got caught up on their bookkeeping and saw the extra money.

Like you said, at least they're honest enough to have returned it.

I guess I wonder why their accounting is 6 months behind?

The casino reminds you numerous times on the final night to cash out your account. On one cruise my husband came back to the cabin late and had forgotten to cash out. A month or 2 later he received a check from the casino for the $31 :) I always leave pennies in my account and don't understand why they've never sent me a check

Anything less than $5, unclaimed, gets donated to St. Jude.

On my first cruise, for some reason I thought my 'Casino Account' money was put on my Sail and Sign Card.

They called my room late on the last night, asking me to come down to the Casino and cash out.

I had no idea what they were talking about...lol. So I went down there and they handed me $165.00. So it does happen that there is confusion.

Thank you, OP, for posting on your son getting his check.

Yes, that was very nice of them to send the refund. They give several "warnings" that if you don't cash out on the last night of the cruise, you will not be able to get your money back. Nice to know that if you forget, they will still send it.

It's nice to recieve forgotten cash and I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but, I don't think it's so much a matter of Carnival's largesse, but rather a legal obligation to return unclaimed funds.

Sad to say but I can't help but think if there was a legal way for Carnival to have kept the funds, they may be inclinded to do so. :(

The same thing happened to my sister a few weeks ago from our cruise in January. It was only $11, but that's better than finding out you owe someone that much!

We got a check in the mail a few weeks after one of our cruises.....for $1.86. Made sure not to spend it all in one place :D

This happened to my DH too, he had gambled at the penny slots, trying to win a BMW, after a while he just walked away....6 months later he got a check for around 11.00 bucks-very nice surprise-dont think he cashed it though, kept it as a souvenier (???)
