Love last minute OBC! But..

The Friends and Family sale has netted us over $200 in OBC a mere 32 days before sailing! ES rate.

Question is with the reduced rate and all why do taxes and fees go up?

Difference would actually have been $$302 but increase in fees and taxes results in OBC of $269.

No, absolutely not complaining about OBC. :p Just wondering.

I believe the port fees are based on how many people are on the ship. So if you have any changes - they can change them. Sometimes you get some back once your on the ship if port fees go down (a credit) to your sail and sign card.

I have had drops in prices lower the insurance premium also.

When you originally book a cruise, and the port fees are shown,

what are they basing them on at that point? Would it not be the assumption

that the ship sails full? I can see getting a credit if they go down but going up

at this point was just confusing. It seems as if I am paying more for these

since my rate was less. Still loving the OBC! ;)

I beleive they are not final until right before you go, someone corect me if I am wrong.

Now I am curious. If they are not final until right before you go, then why don't they go up and down before then? We have not gotten any price drops on our cruise in Oct on the Conquest, but I wonder about this too. If your taxes and fees have not changed since you made your reservations, then why would it change when you get a price drop??

The add on fees and taxes are fixed pp, not a percentage as the OP might be thinking.

If they do go down you will get a OBC once you are onboard. Many have gotten a small OBC .. thats what it is that you see onboard.

The add on fees and taxes are not port fees, which are included in your cruisefare (I saw someone above mention port fees).

If you have a price drop and the add on fees and taxes increase, then the increase will be subtracted from your price drop as the total price is refigured.

They probably changed without you realizing it, but they didn't charge you the difference until you requested the price drop.

I was on here looking to see if anyone had asked this. I booked ES and my port charges went up too. It should have been a $20 credit, but charges went from $159 to $170. I thought the difference always went to Obc but this small difference came off balance due. Weird.....I'll watch what happens if there Is another drop. Am I correct that super saver does not apply to ES?
