I have read this is a great beach.

How do you get there - taxi? Bus? How much one way? Restrooms? Food/Drinks?

Any information about it would be great.

No, it's not a great beach. It's 2 very tiny beaches seperated by a rocky area.

The snorkeling is not very good, but it does have bathrooms. No food or drinks nearby. It would be about a 10 minute cab ride.

If you want a great beach and excellent snorkeling, take a cab to Cemetary Beach. There are no bathrooms or food/drinks...which helps keep the crowds away. It's about a 15 minute taxi ride.

Have a great trip!

Last year planning to go here but never got to Cayman's. Surprised to read post that this beach isn't good. Seems like i read that this is a real nice place, that the locals don't wish to see visitors use.... Any feedback from others??? thanks

Smith Cove is a fabulous beach area! It is small and quaint. If youre looking for Seven miles of beach, theres plenty for everyone at the BIG BEACH, but if youre looking for the gem, this is it. Please look at my other posts about Smith Cove by Searching mrrick747 in this forum as I have written plenty about it and other Cayman Sites. For a quickie, Go to Google search, click images, and type in Smith Cove, as there are pics showing the beach etc. Last time we were in port (3 other ships) we were the only ones at Smith Cove except for the wedding party takin photos! It is just a few miles south of the port and if you ask a driver to take you there, then pick you up later , they will ,as we did last time. 3 hours of snorkel ,sun, shade, and quiet.

We had a great time at Smith's Cove last August. It's very small (like room for one or two families), but we liked it a lot. In the photo below, there is a small beach at right. Just on the other side of the small point of rock at extreme right, there's another small beach. If you go there during the week, you should find uncrowded conditions. There are some picnic tables and a sulphur-water faucet to rinse the sand off your feet. We took a cab there, and when we were ready to leave, we walked a couple of hundred yards back toward town and called a cab from a restaurant on the shore side of the highway. Hope this helps.
