i dont care about stingrays or anything like that, i just want to go to a nice decent beach that has chairs, bars, resturant and possiable a place to walk/swim to for a little snorkeling. (music is a plus)
am i asking for too much?.. does anyone have any ideas?

well i heard that the shopping is all in walking distance from the dock, so i was planning on doing that for about 3-4 hours after a day at the beach.
there's a great perfume shop near by that sells brand names for less.

i know, i hope someone will reply soon.
we are going in april of 2005 on the graduer of the sea...i know we have a long wait.
it's my first time on royal caribbean, the first time was my honeymoon on the carnival fasination. this will be my second cruise.
new orleans is a nice place to visit. i'd rather live on the beach and visit new orleans, rather then live here.

I made reservations back in Sept.2003 for our Nov. 2004 cruise. It is a very long wait, but you can do all kinds of research. I doubt that we do any of the excursions with the cruise ship (NCL-Majesty). From what I have found it will be easier to plan our own, if somebody would please answer our questions.
And I agree living at the beach would be wonderful.

So! My family and I just got back from Grand Caymans at the end of April. I didn't really go for the port and the shopping. We were on the Voyager og the Seas and had an awesome time!!! The port is very commercial and west bay road is along 7 mile beach is full of resorts and businesses. We wanted water and snorkling. We went with Capt. Bryan's and had an excellant time at Sting Ray Alley. Water,Sun and fun! After we wanted something to eat and hit 7 mile beach and went to "Royal Palm Resort." It's right on the beach. Which all places are. You can go to any place pretty much and just get a chase lounge and relax. This place had music, jet skiing, food and beach. The only turn off when we arrived they stopped serving lunch at 2pm! So we had to walk down the beach and getr food at another resort. Be prepared to spend some monety. The US dollar isn't doing well right now.All in all I thought Grand Cayam was to commercial! I'm sure there is a party resort that will suit you. Just walk the beach and you will find what is right for you! John

I was in Grand Cayman last week. John is right it is very Americanized and expensive for shopping. However, everything did seem of good quality compared to the stuff we bought it Cozumel, Costa Maya, and Belize. I guess you only get what you pay for! This was the last port we visited and we didn't want to do the stingray swim and we don't snorkle. We did a town highlights tour and visited Hell and the turtle farm. Although I'm glad we did it to say, "We've been there and done that.", I wouldn't waste my time doing it again! We made a stop along Seven Mile Beach for photos and it was beautiful, but there weren't any people at the spot we stopped. From what I understand, you can use any the beach locations where the resorts are because the beaches are free. There is a public entrance right beside the govenor's mansion. When you get off at the pier, there are locals lined up offering tours and rides to where you want to go. The taxi prices also seemed high. Hope this helps a little.

thanks john, I was undecided between going to the royal palms or the westin. I really dont want a place thats over crowded. did the royal palms have a bar and was the water nice in that area?

Royal Palms is right on the beach. Has a nice garden, showers and a nice patio that has a bar which serves food.Westin resort we did not go to so I'm not sure. There all nice. You should take a taxi. I would say it's a couple miles from the port.Have fun! John

Here's another vote for Rum Point. It's exactly what you are looking for and very few crowds because it's so far away from the cruise ships.

Only people willing to rent a car can get there.
