Back From the Dawn 6/19

Recommended Posts

Just got back yesterday. To all of the Latitudes members, the line for Latitudes in NY to embark was completely empty. We arrrived at the pier at 1:45 PM and walked right through. There was no one on line. We checked in,

bypassed the photographer and were on the ship in 10 minutes. Wonderful.

The mini suite was nice. Enough room for 2. Loved the orchids in the vase by the door all week. Robes were hanging by the bathroom with care. The bathroom was comfortable, the bath tub was a nice touch. The balcony is bigger in the mini than it is in a regular balcony room(deck 10, 9).

Concierge was able to get us VIP tender tickets which came in handy. The line to get the tickets on Thusday morning was extremely long by 7:15 AM.

I must say that the beach and water at the private island was nicer than the last time I was there. The beach was clean, and no bugs that bothered me.

Th water was warm and clean and the fish were plentiful. The two stingrays

are still hanging out.

Dinners were good. We ate at the Venetian, Aqua and Impressions. I actually enjoyed the Cooking Light desserts that were offered. The oysters Rockerfeller were excellent, as were the oyster fritters. The filet mignon and loster tails, along with the beef wellington were also good. The chicken parm was also tasty. The only issue I had was that the menus were exactly the same as they were 2 years ago.

We went to Cagneys on Wednesday night. We had reservations for 6:00PM and were able to pay half price, 7:50 per person. Check the front of your dailies for the info.

My husband had the 24 oz t-bone. He said that it was the best he's had.

But, be careful, because the 24 oz will cost you $25.00, but because the waiter did not tell us that, he charged us the 7.50 price. Loved that.

The BBQ's by the pool were good. But if you don't feel like waiting in line, go up to the Bimini bar. They has hot dogs and hamburgers along with the toppings. They also have chaffing dishes, one day it was cheese sticks and chicken. Another day it was spring rolls. And quick.

The ship is still beautiful. The casino was relentless. We couldn't win a thing.

Don't ask about the shows, we didn't see a one.

The weather was, well hot. Thursday the private island was great, but when we retuned to the shipwe headed up to the pool, you could not stand out in the sun. You could not touch anything that had metal, or stand barefoot. It was that HOT. Even going in the shade di not make a difference. Only AC mattered that day. Cloudy and rainy for Saturdays ride up the coast. Oh well, I guess you can't have it all.

Getting off of the ship was also a pleasure. Again. the concierge arranged VIP disembarkation tickets for us. The ship docked at 8:20 AM. We met at Bamboo, and after the express folks disembarked, we were personally escorted off of the ship through different gangway to our awaiting luggage in a seperate area. Only the VIP lugagge is there. We picked up our bags, aheaded through customs and out. We were out at the curb waiting for our limo driver by 10:00 AM. NICE...... NICE...... NICE........

Hi Kladam,

Thanks for your review. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the cruise. Do you take any excursions?

No excursions. Since we did this cruise 2 years ago we opted to stay onboard. We have also been to Atlantis. On the days that we were docked in PC, and Miami, the pool area is quite empty, so you can sit back and relax and take advantage of a soem what empty pool.

Sorry, I did not keep the dailies. But I can say that there seemed to be much more going on this time around than 2 years ago. More activities by the pool. Our friend loved the cigars under the stars nights, I think there were 2. Check the dailies for 50% off speciality restaurants between

5:30-6:00. but be careful, you have to be seated before 6. Also check the inserts that come in the dailies, they offer some specials on and off the ship.

I kept the Dailies and will likely post them tomorrow. I have to scan them in. The only one I didn't get was Sunday 6/12 (day 1). And, I also kept all the little advertisements and letters we received throughout the ship. Will post them, too. Just give me a little time to get everything organized. I took over 200 pics also  I'll post them as well.

Take care everyone!!!
