pazooter Posted April 7, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I just picked up this book by Jorge Cruise at the public library. There are some new ideas regarding weight loss that I'm going to try out and hopefully break out of this plateau. The first is eating breakfast within one hour of rising to get the metabolism going. This one could be difficult as I usually rise at 6:00 a.m. and don't eat breakfast until 8:30. I'm simply not hungry. Hoping that this second idea will change my not being hungry in the a.m. The second is not to eat anything after 7:30 p.m. Eating at night has been a downfall for me. When I was much, much younger I never ate after supper. (And I was so much thinner.) But recently I've had a problem with snacking a lot after supper. So now I'm going to bed hungry. Any other suggestions are always appreciated. llecamus Posted April 7, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I can't say that I strictly follow the breakfast thing, because I don't eat until about 9:30 or so, but that's an improvement over what I used to do, which is having my first meal of the day at lunch! Since I've made a real effort to lose weight before my cruise, one of the first things I did was make sure I ate a good breakfast. So I buy packs of instant cream of wheat, instant oatmeal, etc., and keep them at work. I use a lower-calorie margarine, and Splenda to sweeten, so there's not many calories, plus the grain really works to fill me up. And instead of making me consume more calories, it has helped me drastically cut down on calories I consume during the day, down to an average of 1400. I've not weighed myself, but I've gone down a good dress size if not more in a month's time.
gayla59 Posted April 7, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 7, 2004 I haven't read that book, but I am going to try eating within an hour of rising. I do have better luck when I abstain from eating after dinner. But I usually wait until I am at work to have breakfast. Thanks for the suggestion! footballbabe3 Posted February 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted February 27, 2012 Cathy I wanted to give you a idea that works for me at night. (But you have to enjoy tea or warm milk) I am the same way and snack at night. Try getting as close to the time that you want to fall asleep and nake yourself a cup of warm fat free milk or any kind of sleepy teas. The warm liquid makes your tummy feel full and helps you sleep. GoodLuck!!
