We did Safaga last year. Was an extremely long, but absolutely fantastic day visiting Valley of the Kings! It was about 45 degrees and hot as! Made Petra seem cool - it was only around the high 30's or early 40's - lol!

We had the best Egyptian guide -a local lady - an Egyptologist (trying saying that after a few drinks!!) who was absolutely fascinating.

A definite must do to anyone who visits Safaga.

if you keep an eye on the bridge cam you will see them approaching the suez canal.... they might have to stop and wait before they can transit through....

I think they have to wait, form a group , and then travel through in convoy.

Did you have "security " when you went through?

maybe I am out a day as they are not there yet... oh well look tomorrow..

no we didn't have security but we did do convoy as on each side of the big lake in the middle you can only go one way.... we entered early in the morning and then when we got to the great lake we were suppose to stop but the captain said we could continue our passage.... we got to the port said early and spend the night there.... the markets were in full swing by the time we got there.... lol

ok looks like now they are waiting for day light to enter the suez canal..... if you can catch them entering it should pretty spectacular ... you enter right in the middle of town or so it seems.......I am sure you can reach out and touch some of those buildings as you pass them...
