Guest Posted April 10, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Number One....My hands are shaking as I write this.. I have Cruise Withdrawals Already! Number Two....The diet went overboard after the first day and I gained! Haven't weighed yet (but can feel the gain..remember at my parents after the cruise too..more food)..hoping some of the weight gain is the "famous water weight gain"! So will weigh after a few days! Then the weight gain will be less... Oh Please let it be so! Number Three....Are you going to kick me off as.. Head CheerLeader for my weight gain and for not listening to myself? Lill Posted April 10, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Isn't cruise withdrawal just the pits?!? No one to make the bed, no buffets, no room service, etc, etc. I'm sure you're suffering from water gain. Don't even get on the scales for a few days. gymbrat33 Posted April 10, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Belle, I also went on a cruise from 3/28-4/4. Go ahead and weigh yourself! Don't feel guilty because you never eat that much. I ate a lot, but I went to the gym 5 out of 7 days doing 45 minutes of cardio and also weights and I just gained a pound. mari 10 Posted April 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Belle, It was your cruise to enjoy. The weight gain doesn't count if you get back on your WOE as soon as possible. What is life, if we can't enjoy simple pleasures? I'm leaving next week, and fully intend to indulge and enjoy every minute of it. I will work out everyday, because it's something that I feel good about. When I get back, I'll go on induction for a week or two, and will be back on track. I think I would have a crazy after binge, if I had to watch everything I ate on the cruise and had to dream about what I missed. I guess my point is, don't deprive while on vacation, cause you might wind up paying for it afterwards. Welcome home, Mari
cmjaffe Posted April 10, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Belle, Welcome back... How was the Visions? Hope you had a great time. As far as the gain... aftermath... I HATE arithemtic... subtract it instead of add.. start the water.. try to watch what you eat for a few days and see what happens.. I'm sure it's not as bad as you think. BuilderMan Posted April 10, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Belle, as long as you had a great time who cares about a few added pounds? Isn't that what a cruise is for? I personally think so! Yes, you are still Head Cheerleader! We tried to fill the void while you were gone but I think I speak for everyone when I say that we missed you. I hate PCDS myself. The brochures don't mention this illness at all, but we all get it. Patgo Posted April 10, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Belle, Welcome home. Glad you had a good time. Don't beat yourself up. That is why you stuck to your program before you went on vacation. You will get back on when you are home and look forward to your next vacation. This is what life is all about. What fun would it be if you had to watch every bite you put in your mouth while on vacation. At least you exercised some. Pat yourself on the back for that. Happy Easter to everyone. Enjoy the day and deal with it on Monday. Life is way too short. Pat
mari 10 Posted April 10, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2004 Hi Kim and Pat, we're all on the same thought wave here. Kim, i hope you enjoy your Easter Day. Don't be too shocked if you really don't want the food that you've been thinking about. Our bodies do get use to eating good food. The only down side of going off my WOE, is that the next day I don't feel right. I think it's the sugar and carb thing. I call it a carb hangover. As most of you know I have been on Atkins since 2/03. By the time I leave next week for my cruise, I should weigh 120lbs, so total weight loss will be 123 lbs. It has been a real learning experience. Along the way there have been occasions when I have indulged. Life does included vacations, holidays, birthdays and anniversaries. I guess my point is we have to keep on telling ourselves this a new way of life. And as long as we get back on track, we'll be okay. Pat, you are so right, life is too short - and if I may add - enjoy and make the most of each new day, it's a gift. I try to. Mari

BuilderMan Posted April 10, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2004 I agree with all of the above. When we all started our new plans we also made a committment to a new way of eating. This is not to say that we can't enjoy the special occasions that come our way. I hope everyone enjoys their Easter! Guest Posted April 11, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 11, 2004 Thank You! That's the problem..I enjoy my vacations! This is a way of life..trying to lose weight..so every vacation up some (some vacations up more than others) So like others, have to lose the weight I gained, then start over. So every once in awhile..a vacation bump in the road...just drive over it..get back on track! (still not getting on scale for awhile..having hard time jumping on that track..sugar high I think plus not feeling good..yesterday woke up with very sore throat) I will get with it...Having dinner out tomorrow, then MONDAY MORNING WILL ROLL AROUND....and the DIET begins again. Getting food ready..so won't have any excuses!

cmjaffe Posted April 11, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 11, 2004 I'm starting to use the Pur system instead of bottled water.. though keep filling up the "old" Poland Spring bottle. Like the "taste" (if there is any) better than the Brita stuff. (still not a big water fan... but.. know I have to) Have a good Easter... WeirdEyes Posted April 12, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 12, 2004 Belle, I'm going on my cruise next month and I plan to eat whatever I want. When you're on vacation, you can't be expected to stick to your diet. Orcrone Posted April 19, 2004 #19 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Belle, If you don't want to weigh yourself, just go back to eating healthy for a week, THEN weigh yourself. You'll probably find that you're back where you were before the cruise. I went to Tampa for two days prior to a 7 day cruise last year. I was 1/2 way to my goal of 70 pounds at the time. Between Tampa and the cruise I gained 11 pounds. But a lot of it was the famous water gain. Between that, going back on WW immediately and going to the gym, all 11 were gone in a week. BTW, went on to lose the rest of the weight and have been lifetime for about 5 months now. So don't sweat any weight gain. Look at it as a medal for a successful cruise. PINEVIEW01 Posted April 19, 2004 #20 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Belle I got back from a five day cruise on 4/15. I spent a day before in N. O. before going. I got on the scale Friday morning, 15 pound gain. Went out of state for the weekend and when I got on the scale this am I had already lost 5 pounds of the water. Still have ten to go. I've NEVER gained that much before. Back to induction today. Sandycruise Posted April 19, 2004 #21 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Hi Melody, I'm so glad you are back. I've been looking for you at the "club" and wondering how your cruise went! Belle, please don't be upset that you enjoyed your cruise. You sound so on top of things any other time. Dieting has to be "one day at a time" like any other life process. Besides, a big part of the cruise priec is the food, so you had to get your money's worth, right? Sandy Carn. Jubilee, Nov 13,2000 NCL Sea, July 22,2001 Cel Zenith Oct 19, 2002 Carn. Guest Posted April 19, 2004 #22 Share Posted April 19, 2004 Melody, Welcome Back. Sounds like you had a great time. I know doesn't the weight come on fast but leave slow? I did weigh-in last Thursday, was up 5lbs, probably was more, lost some water weight, don't know how much it was because didn't weigh plus wasn't to good when I got home. Trying hard now..didn't gain over the weekend, thats a start...but remember I can stay the same real good..it's the losing that I'm so slow at! PJK Posted April 21, 2004 #24 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Melody, welcome back.... Sounds like you enjoyed your cruise as much as I did mine. I was up 12 when I got back and lost 5 within in a couple of days. Its been almost 2 weeks and I can't get lose anymore. This is the same weight I got stuck at for a month. We got the weight off before and we can do it again. Pam NCL Sea 4/04 NCL Norway 4/
Guest Posted April 21, 2004 #25 Share Posted April 21, 2004 Melody..I hear you! I think your body (ours) after cruises..have to get adjusted again. First we don't eat much..exercise..drink water..Then WE eat to much..exercise little and really don't drink our water. Then we come home, lose that extra water weight..then our bodies say.."wait a minute" whats going on here? I'm just going to stay at this weight for awhile and rest. Then soon we will start losing again. Some sooner than others. I think this happens to most, there is always the exception, the ones that can lose on cruises and the ones that can get their weight off fast. I'm very happy for them. Some of us it just doesn't work that way, even when we're being good. WE just have to keep doing our best. It will come off. So Melody and PJK and others we just have to..eat right, drink our water and exercise. We will get it off! Slow but it will happen. Belle says so!
