nanatink Posted May 26, 2013 #1 Share Posted May 26, 2013 We will be tendering in on the Caribbean Princess ship next month. We would like to go to the Edinburgh castle. There will be 5 of us and one will be in a wheelchair. How much is the taxi to get from the tender drop off to the castle? Does the taxi drop us off nearer to the castle because of one using a wheelchair? Thanks to all the help.

If it is not please feel free to correct me.
Bob++ Posted May 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted May 27, 2013 I thought you would find this helpful - from the Castle website: Castle AccessThe Castle is a historical monument atop a steep slope and so may present access difficulties for people with disabilities. This section explains the facilities we have in place to promote access for all. There is good access around a number of major sights within the castle including: Crown Square The Crown Room The Scottish National War Memorial Mons Meg The Great Hall St Margaret's Chapel and viewpoint The National War Museum of Scotland The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards Museum Restaurants and shops. Additional details on the Scottish National War Memorial. Mobility vehicle A mobility vehicle is available to transfer those whose physical condition makes the steep slopes of the castle difficult to negotiate. It can be requested from the uniformed Castle staff on the esplanade, or contact the castle in advance to discuss your requirements. Wheelchairs A limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first come, first served basis, and can be requested from the Castle staff. Note that the steep, cobbled roadways make pushing hard work. Areas unsuitable for wheelchair access Due to width restrictions, some areas are unsuitable for wheelchair access. These are: The military prisons St Margaret's Chapel Queen Mary's Room (Royal Palace) King's Dining Room (Royal Palace) The Crown Jewels exhibition. Most of these are accessible for more mobile visitors, but please feel free to ask staff advice regarding your requirements. Free admission for carers Carers accompanying visitors with disabilities are admitted free of charge.
