Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I'll be sailing her in 3 weeks. What did you end up doing in Grand Cayman?

We were on the 4-day cruise so we didn't stop in Grand Cayman, only Cozumel.

Have a great trip!

We are going on the carnival paradise in 2 weeks :) I was on reading on another thread about how Carnival changed out their comfy bed to stiff cheap hard ones. I was wonder how the beds were on carnival paradise when you went?

Thanks,

Nicole

Our mattresses were fine and the bedding was comfy. They must not have replaced all the beds on Paradise yet. Have a great time!

GREAT info! Keep it coming. I just did a B-2-B aboard the beautiful "Paradise", and agree with about 99% of your thoughts, so far. I love the ship, and crew, and can't wait to get aboard again. The fact that Paradise hasn't been upgraded to 2.0 yet, makes it just that much better IMO. I want to sail her again and again before that upgrade takes place.

Only 99%? :) I really liked the pool slide better than the water park. On the other hand, it did leave less room in the pool.

Let's hope they keep the soft beds when they upgrade!

Yep,,,that 1% is that I REALLY LIKED the "8 Seconds More" show. (The other show, "SHOUT" is outstanding as well. I think I'm going to book again for December 9th. Price is RIGHT!

Dinner was at 8:15. I’d forgotten that with traditional seating, we’d be sharing a table. Ugh! I wasn’t excited about having to make small talk while I was trying to eat. But we ended up with great table mates – two couples from Atlanta and Detroit who were about our age. We shared our alcohol smuggling techniques (some of us were more successful than others) and laughed a lot. Then we went to the casino for some Black Jack. I didn’t do very well so I stopped playing pretty quickly, but Ron played for two hours until we realized that it was after midnight and time for bed.

When we got to our cabin, we found an envelope from the Tour Desk under the door. We had booked the Amazing Secret River excursion, a tour of underground caves, for our day in Cozumel. We were supposed to go to the Secret River last year when we were in Cancun, but the day of the tour Ron was sick so we couldn’t go. I was really excited to see the caves finally, but instead of tour tickets the envelope had a letter saying that the tour had been cancelled because of “operational difficulties”. Nooooo, not again!!! And what the heck are operational difficulties?? I know, I know, you should never book a cruise for a particular tour because itineraries can change for any number of reasons. But I was seriously bummed!

I'm sailing on the Paradise in April. Please tell us more about your "alcohol smuggling techniques". :)

That's my secret. :) But I will tell you the technique that didn't work. One of the guys at our table went to a lot of trouble refilling and resealing water bottles, then put them in his carry-on bag.

Keep in mind first time cruisers!!

We are already booked on Paradise/Verandah/JS..

I was reading around about the different decks. One in particular has me scratching my head. I see that the higher decks are not recommended for people prone to sea sickness. Also you are prone to more ship movement.

This is our first cruise and I would hate to be hugging the white goddess the whole trip. That would just stink.

I don't know if any of us will get sick.

Problem is we have already booked and paid. I do see another suite on a lower level, mid ship.

Am I able to switch to a lower deck??

I need suggestions.

HA! Thanks, I just might do that! You and yours may as well join me and the lovely Mrs. Jones. It's gonna be FUN, FUN, FUN, as usual! ;)

Sky, I met a man on Legend last week who is a Vietnam vet and quite a character--ex policeman, has an auction house in Bradenton. He's going on the Dec 9th he said. If you see a guy wearing a straw like fedora hat using a wheelchair in the smoking area, usually early in morning, call out Dutch and tell him Carol from Legend says hi!

Havea great cruise!

On ships this size unless you encounter really bad weather, sea sickness is uncommon. Read about ways to avoid it ie. ginger, the patch etc just in case. You'll have a great time!
