Papeete Suggestions???

Recommended Posts

Will be arriving aboard Golden Princess on Saturday night (April, 2014) and spending all day Sunday in Papeete. We would like suggestions as to restaurants or cafes within walking distance or short taxi ride from pier. Particularly a good place for lunch on Sunday would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jean & Ed

We will be there via cruise arriving at 8pm then leaving following day at 5pm in November. Any suggestions for 4 adults and a 2 year old?

Not much open on a Sunday. I would assume there are a few cafes open but you will need to just walk around and see.

I may suggest attending church on Sunday morning in the downtown cathedral. The singing of songs in native Maori is beautiful.

Sunday is a rough day to be in Papeete. Le Marche is 99% shut down as well as the shopping downtown. I second Tiki's suggestion checking out the service at the Cathedral. I would also consider Patrick Adventures for an awesome tour around the island.

Sorry I am at a loss as to what to do with a 2 year old. Might get like the Roulettes. I have to ask, why bring a 2 yr old to Tahiti? Use a sitter on the ship if available.

Correct Tiki, although human sacrifice and cannibalism were outlawed early in the 20th century a loophole remains that doesn't apply to children 2 and under.

Hi

We have just rented a house in Moorea for 2 weeks in January. Can you recommend a local car rental company? An older car or even a jeep would be just fine. Like to keep the cost down if possible.

Alberts also rents cars. Have rented from both.

I know the local currency is the French Polynesian Franc but I also understand that the Euro is widely accepted.

I would just like to confirm this with past travelers to Papetee.
