Hi, We are off on the S and S trip on July 9th. Just wondered if anyone had any experiences to pass on, particularly if you did any bike rides or heard any reports about how strenuous they are!!! Looking forward to some sunshine:)

Hello RR,

If you have been on it a few times it must be ok! I have read some posts before ( by you too, thanks,) and it seems we can walk or at least do our own thing in most places. Really I have 2 questions. 1. Does anyone know of an easy bike ride on this trip. Ibiza looks good. 2. What is the best thing to do in Tangiers. Not keen on the actual souks! Sounds as if staying on board is an option that lots of people take. Any tips? Many thanks for your help. By the way..I'm from BSE in Suffolk...how about you?

Recently returned the 18th June from two weeks on the Island Escape (first time on board, as we normally sail with the Thomson Ships).

Upon arrival at Palma, the luggage seemed to take for ever to arrive. We then proceeded to pick up out boarding envelope etc. Upon opening this on the coach there was as letter advising that we would not be boarding due to novo virus and that the ship was being deep cleaned and we would board hopefully after 4-30 pm, we were bused to Sol Majaluf park and enjoyed lunch and All Inclusive, fair play to Thomson we were well looked after and I think making sure the ship was safe was paramount (they did advise it had been a few cases, however people doing there second week advised it was nearer 500 cases). So well done Thomson.

Upon joining the ship the crew and staff tried to make sure everyone got there holiday of to a good start, During the two weeks, all food was served by staff and no one allowed to pick there own food. Despite all the care and attention, still seen numerous people not washing hands after a visit to the loo's (what part don't they get about hygiene!!!!!)

Anyway cabin looked a little and choice on first night not good, but after a good nights sleep everything looked better.

Overall:

Entertainment: Our little used the kids club, great team and many thanks for the great memories (good luck Craig in the new job with the entertainment team). Hugh in the Pub was absolutely, he has a few weeks still do, get him to do his Matt Munro set.Ross well what can you say (best we have seen and a character) (thanks for the memories). The duo on deck 12, not good (sorry, but they are not good). Band reasonable, but not a patch on Top Men and struggled with a number of songs. But overall we had a great time.

Food: Descent choice and a very happy team in the beachcomber (give our regards to Leo, star man. went to the pay restaurant once excellent and great value for money.

Bars: All great (big hello to) Yasa, Mary, Sujay and all the team who made our holiday.

Places Visited: Calvi (very pretty), Livorno (shuttle bus into town, a wander around it was fine), Nice (very pretty and we just walked into town), Toulon (most shops closed but nice to walk (not the most pretty, but bars along the front nice), Barcelone (Captain David (Great man)) managed to get us very close and we walked off and up Las Ramblas. Palma (week two) our french friends decided to go on strike so people going off delayed and we did not leave Palma till the Wednesday at 6 am and headed to Gib (great place and easy to walk (we took taxi into town (also don't spend the high £'s on ship trip)) you can link up on a small bus tour juts where boat docks for £12, Tangier (!!!!! why does the boat go here, after 20 minute walk came back (think most of the boat did the same as it was heaving all day no seats etc.), Malaga (perfect place and very pretty and walk able from boat, Cartagena (as Malaga lovely), Ibiza Town (use the boat shuttle bus £4 per adult (not many taxi's available and a good 45 minute walk.) Then home

overall great time, thanks to all the team for a great holiday.

(Asked about the issue with boat tilting, advised it went to 30 degrees (5 more and it was over, mess everywhere and very scary, previous (think they said Peter was suspended but then was told he had left!! but can't confirm)
