Oceania 2015 World Cruise

Recommended Posts

All inventory was open for sale.

Three times the QE2 sold out nearly 1800 berths in 27 minutes or less.

Pax on a WC seem to have a different mindset. Your cabin is your bedroom.. the rest of the ship.............your living room, dining room, family room, etc. etc. A good friend of mine did a 103 night wc in a 99 sqft inside cabin on the QE2! Yikes! I still can't figure out where she put all her stuff.

Everyone I know who has done a world cruise has told me the same thing.. "it went by so fast!" Every day a different adventure.. even the sea days.

And did that answer my question?

Technical question - what is the difference between "waitlist' and "sold out"?

Checked the O website this morning and they're showing 4 categories open. The others are either waitlisted or sold out.

Thanks.

Wait List means that the category is sold out, but they realize there will be cancellations so they are still accepting reservations on those categories. As people cancel, those on the Wait List will get offered a room. Sold Out, I assume, means that the Wait List has so many people on it, they are reasonably confident that they would never have so many cancellations that they'd go through the entire Wait List.

So (and this is just an example) if a category has 20 rooms, after the 20 are full maybe they take 10 more reservations on Wait List. Once they then have 30 "reservations" for that category of 20 rooms, they stop adding names to the Wait List because they know from experience that half of the first 20 people that have an actual room won't cancel, so there is no reason to add an 11th person waiting in line.

That confirms it

PH on any segment is out of the question.

We're there too!!

(P.S. - Laraine - it's handy to have inside connections, I see)

LOL

I am hoping he was serious about that itinerary on Nautica.

OK - 2 cabins booked so far. LOL

And I have friends who will join us -- that's 3.

Not bad for an itinerary that's not even out yet.

If he said it will be, it will be - It's a wonderful cruise. We did it two years ago - only hope they will keep Burma in. We lost it and we were very unhappy. Arlene;)

I know

But FDR is a funny guy with a dry sense of humor

"Anything for you" could have several different interpretations

I prefer to interpret it as a YES.

Burma is included on the World Cruise segment.

I thought this thread was about the World Cruise. (Which looks like it's a success, at least initially.) Suites and Insides waitlisted already, and some balcony categories as well?

We will be there as well. I tried for the 2014 cruise but missed the cabins I was interested in.

YES, I'm serious.

30 days and no Burma.

The 35 day Bangkok to Istanbul on Nautica does include Burma.

I think if the "boss" puts it in writing, it means something. The Capetown to Singapore cruise with or without Burma was a wonderful time with our sailings with Oceania...35 days and we could have stayed longer, but had to come home!! Arlene;)

Thanks Frank - this means a lot to many of us faithful Oceania cruisers - the fact that you take the time to look at what your customers want, read their comments and then act on them is an unusual but welcome step for a cruise company executive. I don't believe I've ever seen that done by any of the bigger companies.

Kudos to you and Oceania.

We too are interested in the 2015 Capetown to Singapore. Do hope it will become a reality as I don't think we have a hope of gaining a berth on Insignia.

No space on 2014 so we had to make other plans. If this comes about in 2015, I'm contacting my agent and ask that she start calling right away and have them put her on hold until they open the booking. (Guess she will have to sleep with headphones for the next year.) ;)

Pacheco, start a roll call. What FDR says he will do, so let's go for it. (It will just be awful if we didn't get onboard.)

I am tempted -- ya think they would delete it?

Roll call for an itinerary not yet announced?

Found the roll call - you go "Arizona." :D Thank you for doing that. This will be one of the best cruises O has done--well, maybe--because of the roll call prior to an announced cruise. Ha Ha :p

FDR - you are truly amazing and I hope one day to have the pleasure of meeting you and thanking you in person for all you do and have done to make Oceania (and also Regent) our favorite cruise lines! We continue to make converts of our friends.

There are questions to be answered for this cruise, however it appears to be the Top Bucket List Item for us and we are going for it. Have cruises Oceania and Princess on long but not this long. We have found both to be excellent, however cabin size and ports are the key factors to consider.

All the best.

As to repeat meals, just think of how often your own home menu changes. We do change our meals but often according to fresh fruit and vegetables in season. Stir fry, BBQ and even home delivery or the Costco chicken "the eveready chook" per an Aussie term. More critical is the need to pace oneself at Oceania's restaurants. Plus port meals for a variety. We look forward to joining up with others on private tours.
