Surfs Up or Prohibition Party ?

Recommended Posts

I just checked my pre-cruise planner and sure enough, Bob is right as usual! ;):p However, on my October 5 Eastern sailing, the Surf's up and Prohibition events are on different nights, with the former on Wednesday at 8:30 PM and the latter on Thursday at 10:30PM. It's possible that the newly added Prohibition event will conflict with the Quest though from notes I've gathered in other posts that have it on Thursday at 11:30 PM.

Thanks OP and Bob!:) I'm looking forward to trying both for the first time!

We were on Oasis on the July 27 sailing and did the Prohibition Party. Originally it was scheduled for Day 6 (at sea) but was moved to Day 4 (St. Thomas.) We really enjoyed it and thought the crew did a great job setting the theme. They did say it was only the third week they had offered it on Oasis.

We didn't do the Surfs Up party on Oasis but we did eat dinner there one night. Personally, I didn't think the food was all that great. Our balcony was right across from the Seafood Shack and the place was pretty empty every night.

If you're going for the fun and drinks, then it might be a good time. Since I grew up on the Texas coast, I pretty much have a baseline for seafood, so I might be very biased. Personally, I would probably pass on this one and do the Prohibition event. When I sailed on Oasis in May, they weren't doing it then, but I read about it on Allure. That looked like way more fun.

We have done the Surf's Up party. Fun and drinks were fine--food not so much. We enjoyed the food at Rita's Fiesta more. We had eaten dinner one night at the Seafood Shack and enjoyed it. The party food was not the same. I'd like to try the Prohibition Party some time.

I have heard the Prohibition party is alot of fun, but also heard the unlimited drinks were limited to Gin drinks. As we are not Gin drinkers, it would have cost us more than we were willing to spend for a show on a ship!

Again, this is what I have read here on Cruise Critic in the past

Yes the drinks are gin based. I am not much of a gin drinker but they did use a variety of mixers that made some of them tasty.:p
