scrapycruiser Posted July 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 27, 2013 We're trying to decide which to do, the Surfs Up Party or the Prohibition Party. Unfortunately they seem to be on the same night of our Sept 7 Oasis cruise. Would love to hear your thoughts ! Thanks!:)
prayfordaylight Posted July 27, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 27, 2013 Isn't the Prohibition Party only on Allure?
Clarea Posted July 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 27, 2013 Isn't the Prohibition Party only on Allure? I believe it's on Oasis now too.
jamesr3939 Posted July 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 27, 2013 Haven't seen it on the Oasis as I heard it was tied into the Chicago theme on Allure. But I hope I am wrong as it sounded like fun for our upcoming Oasis trip.
Steeler Nation At Sea Posted July 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 27, 2013 I just checked my pre-cruise planner and sure enough, Bob is right as usual! ;):p However, on my October 5 Eastern sailing, the Surf's up and Prohibition events are on different nights, with the former on Wednesday at 8:30 PM and the latter on Thursday at 10:30PM. It's possible that the newly added Prohibition event will conflict with the Quest though from notes I've gathered in other posts that have it on Thursday at 11:30 PM. Thanks OP and Bob!:) I'm looking forward to trying both for the first time!
mpoole3 Posted July 28, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 28, 2013 What is the Surfs Up?
Steeler Nation At Sea Posted July 28, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 28, 2013 Surf's Up is the beach party held at the Seafood Shack. It's the Rita's Fiesta of the Oasis. Fee is $25 with 3 adult beverages or $15 without. Not as much info on cc about the Surf's Up event as there is for Rita's Fiesta.
greek princess Posted August 9, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Hi. I'm sailing on Oasis on Aug 24th. How do you find out what night and what time the surf's up party is?
Steeler Nation At Sea Posted August 9, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Check in the specialty dining reservations in the pre cruise planner on the RCCL website. You may need to select reserve now to see what the date and time is.
cruiselvr04 Posted August 9, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 9, 2013 Booked the surfs up for our November cruise. Have never read any reviews? DH likes seafood which is why we booked it. I know it will be casual but does any one have first hand experience?
ucfknight07 Posted August 9, 2013 #11 Share Posted August 9, 2013 We were on Oasis on the July 27 sailing and did the Prohibition Party. Originally it was scheduled for Day 6 (at sea) but was moved to Day 4 (St. Thomas.) We really enjoyed it and thought the crew did a great job setting the theme. They did say it was only the third week they had offered it on Oasis. Sent from my DROID BIONIC using Forums mobile app
Let'sGo! Posted August 9, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 9, 2013 We didn't do the Surfs Up party on Oasis but we did eat dinner there one night. Personally, I didn't think the food was all that great. Our balcony was right across from the Seafood Shack and the place was pretty empty every night. If you're going for the fun and drinks, then it might be a good time. Since I grew up on the Texas coast, I pretty much have a baseline for seafood, so I might be very biased. Personally, I would probably pass on this one and do the Prohibition event. When I sailed on Oasis in May, they weren't doing it then, but I read about it on Allure. That looked like way more fun. Ann
PCWalton1 Posted August 9, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 9, 2013 I can't give you any inputs on the Surf's Up but the Prohibition Party is fun to dress up for and get into the swing of the 1920. We had a blast.
joand452 Posted August 9, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 9, 2013 We have done the Surf's Up party. Fun and drinks were fine--food not so much. We enjoyed the food at Rita's Fiesta more. We had eaten dinner one night at the Seafood Shack and enjoyed it. The party food was not the same. I'd like to try the Prohibition Party some time. 4bythebeach Posted August 10, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 10, 2013 I have heard the Prohibition party is alot of fun, but also heard the unlimited drinks were limited to Gin drinks. As we are not Gin drinkers, it would have cost us more than we were willing to spend for a show on a ship! Again, this is what I have read here on Cruise Critic in the past

I am not much of a gin drinker but they did use a variety of mixers that made some of them tasty.:p
