Classiccruiser777 Posted July 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 29, 2013 I'm curious what the reception would be to a Cunard credit card if the terms were the same as those offered by Holland America: https://www.barclaycardus.com/apply/Landing.action?campaignId=1313&cellNumber=9 Thoughts? BlueRiband Posted July 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2013 No different from any other "branded" credit card - more "points" based on purchases of the sponsored brand. Any "points" given will more than many times over be repaid by the double digit interest collected. They also move slowly when it comes to posting payments. I don't care for the game, I don't like the rules, and I don't like the results.
Underwatr Posted July 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 29, 2013 If you pay interest on your credit card you're using it wrong. I get more net points per dollar on my CapitalOne card (1.25/dollar, no annual fee) and I can use the points toward any travel expense, so I wouldn't be interested, thanks. ToadOfToadHall Posted July 30, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 30, 2013 If you pay interest on your credit card you're using it wrong. Many people have credit cards because they can't afford to buy everything they want our right, so they they borrow and spread the cost. You may well be able to always pay your monthly credit card off in full every once. But many people don't or can't. I find you statement rather holier than thou. Maybe if we can't afford to buy everything we want, we shouldn't put it on a credit card? Crazy idea, but we don't always get what we want but, sometimes if we try real hard... well, here's one 70 year old guy's take on the topic http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8qr24_the-rolling-stones-you-can-t-always_music :)

I find you statement rather holier than thou.My post was directed at BlueRiband whose point (if I may paraphrase) was that credit cards were a bad bargain because they charge double digit interest. They don't always charge interest. If you can generally (even if not always) pay the balance in full the rewards can be a good deal - I have over $300 in CapitalOne credits I will soon use. MCC retired Posted July 30, 2013 #8 Share Posted July 30, 2013 If you don't pay off your balance every month , you shouldn't be getting another credit card period . I enjoy getting reward points for the credit cards that I use , but if I couldn't pay the balance monthly , those points are not worth the interest $$$.
