lostfancruiser Posted July 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2013 Hi everyone. We are going on Glory soon and, not that it matters-we'll still have a great time, but I keep reading reviews and comments about how the entertainment shows are not that great. Bad singing and canned music. I also have been reading a lot of comments about the location of daily events - i.e. trivia in the casino where there is a lot of foot traffic through and it's smoky smelling. I was just wondering if Carnival employees (higher ups)-actually check these boards and/or pay attention to this kind of feedback. You would think if enough people comment they would take action and make things better. Does anyone know if they do?
ready2cruzagain Posted July 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2013 I do know that Mischelle from Funville does read this board as she has posted here before. So the answer is "yes" they do read them.
golfadj Posted July 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2013 They do read them. Some locations for trivia games is very puzzling. Could use piano bar or other lounge but insist on doing it in high traffic area.
Ronsangel Posted July 31, 2013 #4 Share Posted July 31, 2013 Just got off the Glory on Sunday, and I will agree that the production shows are sub par to say the least. Some singers are not strong at all (and often off key) and the dancing was very methodical. We learned that the performers have only been on board for a month, so have really only done each show 4 times for an audience, which may be part of the problem. We found ourselves enjoying the comedy shows and piano bar much more. The trivia and events alongside the casino were oddly placed for sure, but never impeded us getting through. The cigarette smell wafting from the casino itself made it not a pleasant place to spend any length of time. All this aside - we had a GREAT cruise and still found lots of things to do that we enjoyed. And who knows - by the time you get on board, the shows may be better, and the trivia events might have moved!
golfadj Posted July 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted July 31, 2013 Also find strange when the cover band plays outside the casino night after night. Worst possible place for them.
vacruizer Posted July 31, 2013 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2013 Also find strange when the cover band plays outside the casino night after night. Worst possible place for them. Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that. It's smoky from the casino, people get up dancing and then block the whole promenade so it's almost impossible to get through. The cover bands are so much better suited to smaller lounge like I've seen them do on the Spirit class ships.
Carnival_Brides Posted July 31, 2013 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2013 We complained on day #2 of our 9 days aboard the Glory in June (we did a b2b) and the CD basically apologized, but told us there was nothing he could do about EVERYTHING being in the casino. Park West wanted the Ivory Room, so all of the trivia that normally happens there had to be moved; non-sports trivia can not be in the sports bar; only certain activities can happen on Lido; and Ebony Lounge was reserved for random things throughout the day. We mildly enjoyed Playlist, although they were changing casts halfway through our b2b and it was nice to see a different set of singers. Overall though, it was the worst cruise we have been on (entertainment wise) and we you won't find us on a 2.0 ship anytime soon. I'll miss Guy's burgers, though. Did anyone else think it was strange that Captain's Night was also in the Casino? I don't go out of my way to meet the senior staff, but I thought it was a strange placement. bigdog1958 Posted July 31, 2013 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2013 That's funny that Park west requested the room... I went to the art auction on our cruise last week on the glory, and the room was so tight, you could not move, and if you sat down, you could not get back up as there was no aisle way once others sat down.. It was the worst art auction I have seen... The trivia along side the casino is also terrible, participants take all the chairs from the slot machines, so if you want to gamble during the day, you have to stand.. I guess it saves people money, but not sure I would like it if I was a carnvial shareholder as carnvial is missing out on gambling revenue

It was a good cruise, but the two items you mention were the low points that Carnival can control. I specifically mentioned these on the online comment survey. I don't think the show will improve soon though. I suspect that they are contracturally obligated to them for quite a while.
