Citi Easy Points for Carnival Cruise Certificates

Has anyone used Citi Easy Points to pay for your Carnival cruise? The program states that you can pay $90 for a $100 certificate. My final payment for my Nov 2 sailing is due on August 19 and I thought this would be a great way to save some money, but wanted to make sure that it was on the up and up.

 

Calls to Citibank referred me to Carnival, which referred me back to Citibank. :rolleyes: Any help would be appreciated.

If you want to use the certificates to pay final amount, make sure they are not OBC only.

I used Citi Easy Points to pay for part of my cruise. Worked just as advertised. Buy the certificates from Citi, receive them, and then mail them in to Carnival. No problem at all.

I'm not sure if they're the same certificates or not, but I recently cashed in some Citibank Thank You points to buy two $100 Carnival certificates. These certificates state that they are only valid for new bookings. I have a B2B booked for this summer, and a 4-day in December, but since the December one wasn't early saver I can cancel and rebook with no penalty, so I'm using the certificates for that.

 

They also state that they cannot be used for OBC, excursions, or gratuities.
