Rare curlybelle2 Posted August 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 1, 2013 We know there are movies shown around the pool during the day,but are there any movies playing inside in the theatre? We have a disabled son that can't be outside all day and looking for some activity he may enjoy. Thanks!
f-mattox Posted August 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Yes; they sometimes have movies in the Princess Theatre in the afternoon and also sometimes in the evening. Also they occasionally show a movie in the Explorer's Lounge, but this is not a satisfactory place to watch a movie; sightlines are bad and it is noisy and not dark enough. Pam in CA Posted August 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Several channels show movies in cabins as well. With the new system being rolled out on Princess ships, movies will be on demand (for free) on the cabin TV. The Royal is the first ship to have this option. AZbeachboy Posted August 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Lots of movies in the cabin, not so many in the theatre.:D[/quote The only time we have watched movies on a cruise is in the cabin late at night while going to sleep. The last thing I want to do on vacation is watch a flick. I want the excitement of live shows and music. However, I did watch MUTS once but it was not a movie, but a football game being shown. Belle Posted August 1, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2013 We're been on, they have had a movie in the Princess Theatre most sea days and some Port days in the afternoon. Once in awhile a movie in the evening in the theatre or the Vista Lounge. Their better in the Princess Theatre, big screen. The Vista a small screen. Like wise, (letting dinner go down) but they are still there for those who do want to watch movies while on a cruise.:D
paul929207 Posted August 1, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 1, 2013 There is often a movie in one of the lounges during the afternoon on port days
skynight Posted August 1, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 1, 2013 The daytime movies on MUTS are generally "classics." Newer movies are shown in the evening. Depending on the ship there can be shady locations to watch MUTS. On some days the newer movies are shown during the afternoon in the Princess Theater. If your ship has a Vista Lounge they may also have day time movies there. Have noticed that the Cruise Staff is more than willing to include those with disabilities in their activities. You may wish to speak with the CD or Dep. CD after boarding to discuss activities your son may enjoy.
5326jan Posted August 1, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 1, 2013 We enjoy seeing movies on MUTS, but we also bring a portable DVD player that we hook up to TV. I know your son shouldn't stay in the cabin and watch tv on a cruise, but it is an alternative if there's nothing else for him. :)

Pam, any idea when the other ships are scheduled to get this new feature?
Wavesprite Posted August 1, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 1, 2013 We were on the Grand in July....they had MUTS, movies in the Princess theater and sometimes in the explorers lounge. There was an inside movie almost every day. There was also a TV guide in the room with each days movie picks and starting times and then in the patter would be another movie playing in room....usually one that was at MUTS or the theater at some point. Cruisin' Chick Posted August 1, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 1, 2013 I remember one afternoon on my last cruise, making a fruit and dessert plate and heading to the Princess Theater to catch the end of a movie I've seen a couple of times before. When the lights came on, there was a good number of people who had been watching.
Samanthamelody3 Posted August 1, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 1, 2013 Yes there are sometimes movies inside...I don't think you will have a hard time at all finding things for him to do - there are always movies and entertainment. Have a great cruise.
