So this will be our first trip on the Pride Aug 25th...anyone else going?

Couple of questions....how dressy to you have to be guys for that dress up night...we have done Royal but my hubby is all about not having to do a suit could he do nice pants and a polo?

Also can you order more then one appetizer for dinner?

In the specialty restaurant can you only order one appetizer....is it truly worth doing?

Is there a meet and mingle set up for this group? If so can you link me in?

My son is 14 what kind of activities should I tell him about..is there a teen club or not really.

Never been to Turks and their privately Island...any fun excursions we should do just 3 of us?

How would you compare the positives and negatives, if any of the Pride vs Royal's Enchantment....

THANKS everyone...need any excursion suggestions...anyone heard of Luekia which is a place you can to go for beach...

ALSO is there any free drink events that we should attend like welcome back..but I guess we can't attend that right they check cards and such?

We did see people dressed as you describe on elegant night so he should be fine. You may order as many appetizers as you'd like in the MDR, not sure about Cagney's (didn't eat there). There is a teen club and it looked like they were having fun whenever we saw the group out and about but it was just DW and I so our teens didn't go. There is a link to my review in my signature and photos in my flikr link.

Here is a link to your roll call: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1731978

Dress pants and polo is fine for hubby.

You can order as many of anything that you'd like in the MDR, but not in David's..only one of each course. It is well worth the upcharge. The cheese cake for dessert is out of this world!

My daughter loves the teen program. Here's a link to the program schedule on the Pride from a while back...just to give you an idea:

There is a farewell party at the end of the cruise where free drinks are available. They don't advertise it very well. It's on Saturday sometime in the afternoon. Check the Funtimes closely in small print somewhere on Friday and Saturday.

Have a great cruise!!! :)

Hi...I've sailed both-EN and the PRIDE. Word of caution: don't do what I did my first time on the Pride...I went looking for it to be like the Enchantment...it's not. The Pride has it's own vibe! The only negatives I could think of are: The Lido/Merimaid Grille is NOT like the Windjammer on Royal...after two cruises on the Pride (the third approaching 8/25 like you!) I still prefer the layout of the Windjammer. The food choices are pretty much the same although, I felt the MDR food was better than on the Enchantment. The differences between the decor of the two ships are like night and day! I prefer Royal's Enchantment. The Pride was more fun for me somehow...it's not as conservative as Royal but I didn't witness any 'bar room brawls' either. The overall cruise experience is very similar but the Pride goes to Half Moon Cay (Carnival's private island) which is way better than Royal's Coco Cay. In short, if you don't go looking for what you had on Royal (like I did the first time) you will have a ball on the Pride!

It is my understanding that they no longer do the farewell party. (I know they didn't have one last October.):(

We saw pretty much everything on formal night from tuxes to collared shirts. I would say most men wore a tie or a coat, but not both.

You can order double appetizers but I have heard they will sometimes deny this request depending on availability. I ordered double escargot and the waiter did not blink.

We thought the MDR was excellent and the steakhouse was slightly better with much bigger portions. You won't need a second appetizer! You can ask for your dessert to be boxed and you can eat it in your room later.

Check out some of the artwork online before your 14yo gets aboard...lots of classical nudes in the decor. Nothing offensive, just something you might want to warn him about. We thought the decor was charming, but perhaps a bit European depending on what church you grew up in.

There were a few free drink opportunities but they were crowded and we avoided crowds at every opportunity.
