Cancelled-Grand Jan 18/2015

Official word is "deployment changes". Unofficial word is that there will be fewer 2 week cruises to Hawaii (apparently having both the Star and Grand were too much Hawaii to sell) and that they will be substituting other West Coast itineraries for the cancelled weeks. Exactly what and when remains to be seen.

Wow. I have seen a few threads indicating that several Hawaii cruises have been cancelled. I wonder why? I would assume either they are really having to discount them or port fees are really expensive.
Follow the money. :) Chances are that having so many cruises to HI that sales were soft. Cruises to HI have higher than normal operating costs due to using more fuel and needing a larger CD staff and lecturers to plan activities due to so many sea days. Ships are redeployed where they can command higher prices.
