hansi Posted August 2, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 2, 2013 Is there such a thing similar to the disembarkation lounge?
caribill Posted August 2, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 2, 2013 Most embarkation ports just have a separate seating area to wait in until it is time to board. A few do have a separate room with some refreshments.
beg3yrs Posted August 2, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 2, 2013 Sort of. Platinum and Elite passengers get Preferred Boarding which may or may not include a lounge or at least a separate area, depending on the port of embarkation. Those more experienced than myself will surely (don't call me Shirley) provide more details.
Pam in CA Posted August 2, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 2, 2013 It depends on the port. Whatever area it is, whether just a section or a separate room, it's for Platinum, Elite and full suite. There's no separate area for just Elite that I've ever seen. Usually, it's just an area to sit that might have water and not much more. It can get extremely crowded if the Platinum/Elite/full suite people bring friends and adult family with them. I've seen the area literally stuffed because of this with people who have earned the perk unable to enter. :(

There's no separate area for just Elite that I've ever seen. Usually, it's just an area to sit that might have water and not much more. Sometimes they have one area for Elite and Suites and another area for Platinum. It depends on the port and the itinerary - specifically on how many people from each level are on the cruise. On a 28-night South Pacific round trip from LA, over half the ship was Platinum or higher. On that cruise, I believe there was a separate Elite and Suite waiting area. On a 7-night Alaska round trip from Seattle, there were only 400 Captains Circle members (Gold or higher) out of 2700 passengers, and I was one of the top twenty even though I'm not Elite yet. On that cruise, there was only one preferred waiting area.

Is it a separate room, a separate roped-off area, or something different?

Lauderdale terminal? Thanks. Terminal 2 at Port Everglades has two separate waiting areas upstairs. The large open area is for Platinum passengers. The is also a door to a separate smaller area for Elite and Full Suite passengers. The Suite area had coffee, tea, water and orange juice. The only munchies were small grilled vegetable sandwiches. This was in January. Don't know what was in the Platinum area. That is the only port I have seen with a separate area just for Elite/Suite passengers. san diego sue Posted August 2, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 2, 2013 We experienced the separate Elite lounge also at Terminal two in Ft. Lauderdale. There was snacks and coffee etc. When boarding was ready, we went into a small hallway and then right on the ship. Bypassed the photographers. Really nice and quick. About 15 minutes before boarding started, one of the Princess staff said we could go out and get an embarkation photo taken if we wanted one. We boarded after the "photo op" background and would miss it otherwise. Nice to just skip it as everyone else in the room did :)
dorisis Posted August 2, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 2, 2013 We have always arrived as boarding was going on. I didn't know there was a seperate waiting room for Elite and Suite. I do know that there are seperate lines for Elite and Suite boarders. But there are now so many Elite on some cruises that the lines don't necessarily move faster. IECalCruiser Posted August 2, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 2, 2013 A big tent the last time I embarked there (not this summer). It is still just a really big tent with seating for 500-600 people on one side. After passing through the scanners you are assigned one of about ten sections in the seating area and wait in the seats for your section to be called for check-in. After check-in you go directly on board. The check-in/boarding process started just before noon. There was coffee, tea and water available for all. Was was the embarkation facility for the Emerald in Copenhagen this summer? I'm on the Sept. 10 TA; have elite status. Thanks! You get to sit in the first rows of about 100 people and are called first to start the check-in process ;)
OCruisers Posted August 2, 2013 #18 Share Posted August 2, 2013 Is there such a thing similar to the disembarkation lounge? Sorry ... realized you are asking for DISEMBARKATION lounges for Elites ... and we've been answering on embarkation lounges. :o Yes, there is a disembarkation lounge for Platinum, Elites, and Suites. It has coffee, orange juice, and sweet rolls ... and normally some sort of newspaper to read. LuLu ~~~~

LuLu ~~~~ Except if there are so many Platinum/Elite/full suite passengers (with family and friends who aren't) that they have to use an additional lounge. In which case, there's nothing. That's what happened to me on the Star last year. Nada. Zippo. Just a lounge that filled quickly and got announcements when someone remembered.
