cab , walk,

Recommended Posts

Definitely get a cab. Port Everglades is large and not very pedestrian-friendly. Plus you have to go through a security checkpoint which to my knowledge is only accessible by vehicle.

Take a cab.

I'm with them... Take a cab.

Littlemissmagic how are you? I always love reading your reviews. I saw you posted and I started to think that aren't you in Europe right now? I am thinking Italy? Or at least that is what I remember from one of your last reviews. Wherever you are I hope all is well with you and your family.

OP, sorry for the thread steeling,

Andrew

I have a question we are leaving out of the port in ft laudale and we are wondering if we can walk there form the hotel or would you get a cab.

Many people have walked, especially the crew that work there. Allure and Oasis are not a bad walk at all. However if it's to Independence or anything at Pier 19 forget it, the walk is way too long.

Good to know ... We leave in 2 weeks on the allure and we are staying at the Hilton ft lauderdale marina hotel which is across the street from the port.... My husband kept saying we should be able to walk... He was looking it up on google earth which way to go. With luggage sounds like a pain to me.

The problem with walking is that it is a very industrial area, without safe/clear walking paths. Lots of construction vehicles and trucks. It isn't very expensive to take a taxi, and it's a lot safer and easier.

*Oops, threadjack*

Hey, I'm doing great! I've returned from my travels in Italy, and I just got back from spending the summer in New York City.

Sorry a bit more thread jack.

I just quickly reviewed your two cruises from while you were away. As always very thorough, and wonderful photography. Nice to see your clan with you too. I bet solo cruising was different compared to family cruising.

My dad was an architect and with his own firm, but sadly passed 10 years ago at 65. He always had university students at the office, and I think I can safely say that you would have qualified to work with him.

As a young graduate he worked on large projects with Don Smith, from EllisDon. From that experience he knew that new students needed great mentors, as he had in his youth.

You will have great success in your future. I look forward to your next review sometime in the future.

It's about a mile from the Hilton Marina to Allure. There aren't any hills though.

It is a pain! Too much truck and vehicle traffic going through there with no real sidewalks.

Thank you! I'm sorry for the loss of your father - he sounds like a great man and inspiring role model.

You can always follow along with my travels on my blog, Victoria on Vacation - I've just started "cruise month," where I plan to theme each post on cruising!

Remind your husband that it is August in FLORIDA.

If he wants to start his cruise out with heat stroke, encourage him to walk.

Haha... I told him by the time we got there being so humid we would be a hot sweaty mess. I told him that people on cc thought you couldn't walk thru getting into the port so sounded like walking wasn't an option. That's my story and I'm sticking to it ... Lol
