gaillyn Posted August 3, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Do the cabins have irons? Do they have magnify mirrors or do I need to pack my own? TIA!!!!
pungo3 Posted August 3, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Do the cabins have irons? Do they have magnify mirrors or do I need to pack my own? TIA!!!! You are not allowed to take irons on cruise ships. If you do, they will confiscate it and return to you at the end of the cruise. Every bathroom I've had has had a magnifying mirror. There is a laundry room on all ships where irons can be used free of charge.

SadieN Posted August 3, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 3, 2013 What ship are you cruising? The Fantasy Class regular IS and OV cabins do not have magnifying mirrors. I think the suites do. Irons are found in the laundry rooms.

picomullet Posted August 3, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Some ships do not have mag mirrors. Fantasy class/? Triumph class.. Ended up on a cruise without one, sure missed it. Ditto on the irons...not allowed. There are laundry rooms and everything is there...iron, board, washer, dryer..
picomullet Posted August 3, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Freedom had them so I would think Glory would too. Look at some cabin pictures on cruiselineroomsdotcom. Seems to always be a lot of pictures of the bathroom!! Enjoy your cruise!!!
Almost Packed Posted August 3, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I have brought irons on most of my cruises and have never had them confiscated. Consider yourself fortunate then as they do confiscate them and they are a fire hazard and against the rules. I normally don't care about rules for certain things, such as smuggling booze or carrying 2 bottles of wine as oppose to only being allowed one bottle per person. however, irons, hot plates, candles etc. are a fire hazard and it is a a bit more serious than a 45 year old woman smuggling her Malibu onboard. Irons are available in the laundry rooms on all ships. No need to carry one. I have a small magnifying mirror that I carry with me. It has a little suction cup on the back that I can stick to things. That way DH can shower and i can sit at the vanity and get ready with my own mirror.

rainbowflag Posted August 3, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I have brought irons on most of my cruises and have never had them confiscated. That doesn't make it right, irons are and have always been on the forbidden items list.
gaillyn Posted August 3, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks for the quick replies. I will pack the mirror(just to be safe) and keep the iron at home. :)
pungo3 Posted August 3, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks for the quick replies. I will pack the mirror(just to be safe) and keep the iron at home. :) Sorry if I gave you bad information. All the ships I have been on did have the magnifying mirror in the bathroom. But, you are very wise to carry one just in case. I hope you have a fabulous cruise! p.s., I need to book more cruises so I can have first-hand experience from ALL the ships.:D:D
MrPete Posted August 3, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I have brought irons on most of my cruises and have never had them confiscated. How irresponsible! Even knowing they are not allowed and are a fire hazard?:eek:
WELDON Posted August 3, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I was on Glory in June and there are magnifying mirrors in the bathrooms. The mirrors pull out so you can adjust them.
Mrs CruisinCritter Posted August 3, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks for the quick replies. I will pack the mirror(just to be safe) and keep the iron at home. :) We were in an aft extended balcony on the Glory in May and there was a magnifying mirror in the bathroom so you don't have to worry about bringing yours along. :) Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

misguidedangel Posted August 3, 2013 #19 Share Posted August 3, 2013 I would suggest that you bring a small, compact magnifying mirror. The one in the bathroom is set a little too high on the wall. I am almost 5'8" and it is just about right. If your under 5'8" you'll have a hard time to reach and see using that mirror....

FloridaMimi Posted August 4, 2013 #22 Share Posted August 4, 2013 I have brought irons on most of my cruises and have never had them confiscated. I brought a travel iron on by mistake once because I didn't even know it was in the suitcase and it defiantly was confiscated. :o When our luggage arrived at our cabin I found a note lying on top stating they took it and we could pick it up at the end of the cruise. We make sure to always double check all compartments in our luggage before cruises from now on. :D
ShellLoves2cruise Posted August 4, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 4, 2013 I have brought irons on most of my cruises and have never had them confiscated. How inconsiderate of all the lives you've put in danger just to not have a wrinkle in your clothes ~ I hope you are the exception and not many others have been able to sneak an iron onboard!
