Key West Fla.

Yes you can buy your tickets right off the ship and their stop #1 is just outside the port area.

There are discount coupons in one or more of the visitors guides that they were happy to accept.

We have gone on City Tours in both Boston and Key West and highly recommend their service .

The trolley drivers were all informative , The only issue was some of them really push hard for tips.

I would not bother to buy tickets in advance.

Where do you book for the City View Trolley? Can you book it off the ship in Key West and also is it worth taking the Hemmingway's Tour. What do they show you?

The Key West trolley tour is lots of fun -- open air, takes you everywhere, hop on/hop off. The main starting point is right by the dock/Mallory Square.

The Hemingway House is interesting, but your time in Key West is so limited on a cruise ship, and the tour takes at least a couple hours. IMO, I'd rather poke around Duval Street, and elsewhere -- lots to see.

You can purchase City View tickets online or after you get off the ship. They are located just across from pier B where the ship will dock. Very easy to find there booth.

The Hemmingway house tour you can do on your own or with a guide. They just give you a history of the house, grounds and Hemmingway.

If it was me I would personally book with Old Town Trolley instead of CityView. Old Town Trolley is a more thorough tour and you are able to hop on and hop off at different locations along the route.

If you purchase your tickets ahead Of time they are a little cheaper.

City View is actually cheaper then Old Town. Both are hop off/hop on tickets. But the thing I really like about City View is they stay in historic Key West. Old Town Trolley routes take you into the newer part of Key West and that route takes about an hour to get back to historic Key West. Nice if you want to go to a shopping mall, but not when you are on a port stop for only 7-8 hours.

The Red Train that runs around Key West is not a hop on/hop off tour. It actually takes a tour with no stops.

I honestly dont know what tour we were on but we just walked up to a little shop across the street from the big red building (cant miss that building) and bought tickets for a trolley ride that was hop on hop off at about a dozen places. It very interesting even though we had been to KW before. We are seniors so I think it was $19 per person. Not sure about that price. Because we had already visited most of the highlights before, we just stayed on and rode non-stop.

Do any of these trolley rides stop at any place one can swim?

The one time we were in Key West, we walked a long way to find a park where DW could swim. I know she wants to do that again. It was a longer walk than we expected, and sweaty. I think we also stopped at some museum, but not Hemmingway, which we want to visit this time.

We booked the City View Trolley (hop on/hop off) directly through Carnival, and loved it. The guides were funny, the stops were well planned, and we definitely got our money's worth. I checked it out, and their advanced ticket sales on their website are at least $10 cheaper than through Carnival..I would recommend buying them either online or in person the day you get there. Online I think the price is $19 and in person that day the cost is $21...I think we paid $29.99 through Carnival.

In case it wasn't made clear in the responses, let me repeat it. City View is also hop on/off.

The reason Old Town goes out there is, it stops at 2 useless spots that are owned by the same person as Old Town. The only advantage is driving along the beach on S. Roosevelt but otherwise, the stops at the hotel and the tiny gift shop are a waste of time. I agree with you. For a cruise ship guest, I will always recommend City View. Not to mention, it is a lot cheaper.

Just to be clear, Carnival does not dock at Mallory Square. Their ships are too big. They use either Pier B or the Outer Mole. Freedom will be at Pier B.

I have to agree with Aquahound. If there is an advantage to Old Town I haven't seen it.

City View equipment is all new, the seats are padded and far more comfortable, it is MUCH cheaper and is hop on hop off as well.

Mike:)
