Best way to get to Fairmont Southampton on a Sunday afernoon

I will be arriving on a cruise to Bermuda on a Sunday and would like to attend an event at the Fairmont Southampton Sunday evening which begins around 6. What would be the quickest and most inexpensive way to get there? Also, I can only assume with limited public transportation a taxi would be necessary to return to the Dockyards. How much would a taxi cost for 4?

Assuming you want to be there for the start of the event, both the route #7 (runs on South Rd) or #8 (runs on Middle Rd) bus will be running. However, the bus stops you would be dropped at would still mean you will have to walk about ½ mile to get to the Southampton. The walk from Middle Rd appears to be a little shorter.

Returning to your cruise ship is a different story. For the bus, the only one that runs in the evening is the route #8 and there is one run only that departs Hamilton for the Dockyards at 10:45PM which would put it at the Southampton stop by about 11:15PM.

That covers the inexpensive way to get to the Southampton.

The quickest would be a taxi both ways. For 4 passengers traveling on Sunday, the fare would be about $35.00 both ways.

Hi! I attended a conference in June at the Southampton while staying on Breakaway. First, there is no walk at all from the bus stop. Bus Route #7 and #8 stop at different sides of the hotel property, and the hotel is a 1/2 mile long uphill driveway/road, but the hotel runs a shuttle every 15 minutes from the hotel lobby to the bus stops - all day, every day. It just continually circles the property. Get off the bus, and walk about 15 ft across the street to the sign that says Southampton Fairmont, and wait for the shuttle bus. Very easy. And just for clarification, taxi is $35 or so EACH way to dockyard. It usually ran between 35-40 each way, but on one occasion, when traffic was tied up, it was over 50. That was all on weekdays. Not sure if taxi rates are higher on Sundays.

On Sunday, 1-4 passenger taxi fares carry a 25% surcharge, 5-6 passenger taxi fares carry a 50% surcharge.

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions! We may just take a cab as that will be quick and not too expensive for 4.

So would there not be ferry service from the Dockyards on Sunday to Hamilton that we could use to get there by 6? I was thinking that would be faster than the bus getting there. I have looked at the schedule and unless I'm wrong the ferry leaves at 430pm from Dockyards.

Yes, there is ferry service Dockyard <> Hamilton on Sunday, and the taxi ride from Hamilton to Fairmont Southampton is about 3 miles shorter than the ride by taxi from the Dockyard. You could take the 4:30 ferry but you'll arrive at the Fairmont Southampton early. If that is not a problem, do it.

We have stayed at the Fairmont Southampton. I think that your best bet will be taking the #8 bus from the Dockyard and getting off by the hotel (near the Waterlot Inn). Just tell the bus driver you want to get off at the Fairmont Southampton and they will let you know when it is your stop. It is about a 35-40 minute bus ride. Right across the street from the bus stop, you can get a shuttle to the hotel lobby. It runs about every 15 minutes. You can do the same thing in reverse on the return to the Dockyard. I would suggest checking the bus schedule so you can try to make connections without waiting too long.

I wouldn't mind taking the bus but would prefer a quicker trip. The event I'm interested in going to begins at 630pm so I think I would have time to get there via ferry/taxi.
