Hi,

I`m flying out to Venice on Saturday for a cruise on Splendour. I have just checked in for the flight online and printed off the boarding passes.

I cant check in for the flight home because the online check in does not open until 2 days prior to the inbound flight.

Question is, will I be able to print out the boarding passes whilst on Splendour via the Internet ?

I know if you turn up to the airport with no boarding passes, the airline will charge you to print them out.

HELP !

Thanks in advance.

Shouldn't be a problem Pete. Did RCI arrange the flights as part of the package? If so, there's no need to print the boarding passes for the return journey. This has happened to us twice (Jet2?) and it was no problem and no charge to check in on the return journey without boarding passes.

Enjoy!

Yes, just buy some internet minutes and you can print for free. Make sure you do it on one of the computers onboard and not via WiFi as, obviously, your wifi device isn't connected to the printer ;)

Alternatively you could find an internet cafe in one of the ports towards the end of your cruise and probably do it for much cheaper.

Thats great Yolanda. Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the flight was arranged through the cruise company. I think I`m just getting pre-cruise jitters !

(and yes, it`s Jet2)

Thanks again

Pete

:)

You're welcome :)

In our experience it is all very efficient and straightforward. We were worried the first time it happened too (because the Jet2 website said you could check in about 3 weeks before a flight - Not so when RCI have arranged it on your behalf though, for some reason!, so we called RCI just to check, for peace of mind.

As long as it's not Ryanair, it's fine :D Just remember to print off your transfer slips for the outward AND return journey between ship and airport because they DO ask for them!

I was going to start a new thread with my own newbie questions but if its ok ill just post here.

Questions:

We have OBC that I want to use for excursions - but I have to wait until I'm on board to book. Should we be ok to get a place on ship excursions if we book on board?

We have speciality dinner for 2 included in our TA package also. Again, I cannot book this until we board (or we will be charged) - will we be ok to get a reservation if we wait until we book onboard? (Looking to go to chopes and sailing on navigator OTS)

Kids club - what time is registration on the first day?

Entertainment on first night. Does anyone know what the entertainment is on the first night on Navigator (eastern med from Civitiveccia). We need to book a dinner reservation for MTD and i'd like to plan around any entertainment that might be going on.

Breakfast: Whats the difference in MDR breakfast and Windjammer buffet breakfast? My husband loves breakfast, as does my daughter so its quite the meal for us :) DH has already been asking me "what will be on the breakfast menu" (we dont sail until october!)

Speciality restaurant : Chopes or Portonfino for good quality steaks? :)

They hold back a certain percentage of excursion space for on board booking. Go to Explorations as soon as they open on boarding day to book.

Again, I cannot book this until we board (or we will be charged) - will we be ok to get a reservation if we wait until we book onboard? (Looking to go to chopes and sailing on navigator OTS). You should be OK. Go to the specialty restaurant right after you board to make reservations.

Entertainment on first night. Does anyone know what the entertainment is on the first night on Navigator (eastern med from Civitiveccia). We need to book a dinner reservation for MTD and i'd like to plan around any entertainment that might be going on. Pick a time that coincides with one of the traditional dining times.

Breakfast: Whats the difference in MDR breakfast and Windjammer buffet breakfast? My husband loves breakfast, as does my daughter so its quite the meal for us :) DH has already been asking me "what will be on the breakfast menu" (we dont sail until october!). MDR has more made to order breakfast items, such as Eggs Benedict, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, etc. There will also be a different special item each day. Most ships have made to order eggs in Windjammer also, but it's limiited to omelettes and fried eggs.

Speciality restaurant : Chopes or Portonfino for good quality steaks? Both have good steaks, but there are more meat choices at Chops.

Answered what I could in RED above.

I will be on the Serenade in Nov. Is there waffles, French toast and pancakes at the windjammer and Park Cafe or only in the MDR?

I've not seen a Park Cafe offer waffles, french toast, or pancakes. Probably in Windjammer, but I don't recall any recent reports about Windjammer on Serenade.

Just had another EEK moment. But then found the transfer slips in my documentation from our TA?

Thanks.

What airline charges to print boarding passes?:eek:

Never heard of that before.

Yes, we have them here. The one that springs immediately to mind is a company called Ryanair. It is also the airline that has in the past gone on record as saying they are considering standing tickets (ie no seat!) and a charge to use the toilet. I kid you not......

Hi all.

Yeas it's a Ryanair thing. They are soo cutthroat it's untrue.

Our airline is Jet2 and I have never used them before. I just wondered if they had jumped on the Ryanair bandwagon.

Thanks for everyone's replies. Cruise Critic strikes again. I love checking in here even when I don't have a cruise booked ( which isn't very often ;))

Hi

Just to add that i have found it difficult printing off Jet 2 tickets in the past . We did this lovely cruise 3 weeks ago and when i finally managed to check in on line before leaving the UK, it printed off boarding cards for the return journey also, so no need to worry about internet access. It does seem to be a little unpredictable though.

Have a wonderful time :)

the airline charges you if they print out your boarding pass?????????

what airline?

i fly internationally all the time and have never encountered this...

granted, between continents i've only flown on about 6 or 7 different airlines, but none of them have charged for printing boarding passes!

which airline are you on?

£70 for Ryanair 'Airport Boarding Card Reissue Fee' approximately $100 per person, no joke. If you don't have access to a printer, don't book with Ryanair.

As for the info about Jet2, thanks for the update if booked with RCI, that's us in October for Splendour too and they charge £17.50 per person to print boarding pass at the airport. That's around $25 per person.

The airline we are referring to is Ryanair. It's a budget airline that would charge you for the air you breathe on their planes if they could get away with it! :D
