Tropical Treasures port change

Recommended Posts

And showing Dream 22 Jan too.

Sure hope so as we have been looking forward to the new island.

To be selling it on line with St Barths still on the itinerary, but when you put your booking number in for a detailed itinerary and find it is shown as a sea day is worrying though. They can't have it both ways.

I have asked my TA to check it out for me so will wait to see what they come back with. Will report back as soon as I hear anything.

I emailed my TA last night so she has time to check it out before we get in to see her tomorrow when we get home. When I checked Thomson site around midnight last night they were still advertising St Barths for 19 Jan cruise, and I even got the trips up in a roundabout way for St Barths, but when I put my booking ref in to get my excursions for the date I am going it is showing day 4 as a sea day, and no St Barths.

Exactly the same here, Gill. Just linked you up with FB comments. Hope your half pint glass is half full not half empty.

I'm hoping to book for march (actually have got my mindset on it now) but with 2 sea days on latin gems and now a possible 2 sea days on tropical treasures too...will have to hold off booking for a bit longer, until I get some answers

and

since the website got back up and running the price has gone up a bit too (but then it is the weekend?)

I noticed the port change on the christmas tropical treasures (grenada/st vincent) those of you on here that are booked for christmas....did you get a letter informing you of this change?? or have they just slipped it in under the radar? (the previous weeks christmas charms also calls at st vincent....so 2 stops at st vincent if you are combining christmas & n/y)

grenada appears to be still on for latin gems

I feel for you guys that are already booked.....tropical treasures has attracted my interest also , because of the st barths call.....if I book and then arrive to find that it has been dropped (for any reason other than operational) and they have failed to inform me, I will not be a happy bunny

tbh...also have hunch that the itinerary v shorex mismatch could be because st barths is a new port and shorex still needs to be organised.....hope so I dont think they would be selling this itinerary if they know there is likely to be a change?? would they??

btw...you can just add any old booking reference number into the shorex planner to get a rundown of whats available (st barths still showing as a sea day?)

I'm going on Christmas Charms and Tropical Treasures, and surprise surprise I have yet to receive a letter informing me of the port change.

The St Vincent's and Grenadines island we are going to on the first week is Mayreau, an island which is 1 1/2 square miles and a population of 200, there are 3 shore excursions offered, all sailing!!! The second week it is Kingstown St Vincent's which is a different island:D

Just doing a blog post about this now. Will be up shortly. Let me know if there are any mistakes in what I'm saying about it. :)

Just read it Sailaway. Excellent report IMO. Thank you for bringing it to the attention of others. Quite a few on Thomson Dream FB page are commenting too. :)

I am getting muddled up with my Kingstown's and St Vincent's. Think that it is the same island, so 4 new ones for us.

Gill, St Vincent and the Grenadines are a group of islands, Mayreau is a tiny island with golden sand beaches which is 1.5 square miles with a population of 200. Kingstown is on the main island with black sand beaches

Thanks. I jumped straight in after one of your last posts and thought the Kingstown one was different from the one we did this January, but it is the same island. Your new port sounds great. I am just excited now the itinerary's are there and St Barths has come back, and thinking of our second Caribbean cruise. Don't mind going back to islands we have been to before as I loved the whole experience so much.

Knowing you would all be a bit anxious about this I didn't tell you about our experience about three years ago - sorry no doubt some of you have read this before but Thomson dropped an absolute clanger re itineraries one year.

They'd included Skiathos and Thessaloniki on one of the cruises out of Marmaris - and we'd booked early on because the new ports were interesting to us. This was out of the April brochure for a cruise the following May. Well in September my friend emailed me asking if our cruise had changed- she'd seen the September brochure edition and our cruise was unrecognisable! Skiathos and Thessaloniki had disappeared  (main reason for booking), Dikili had been included (worst port we'd ever been to) and out of the five ports of call in one week, three had changed! It appeared that Thomson were claiming it wasn't a 'significant change' so we couldn't do anything about it! I was furious as you might imagine. Anyway our excellent TA fought our corner so that we could cancel with no charge and we got the deposit transferred to a different cruise at no admin charge - at my insistence. What a nerve to change your holiday to that extent and think people would just accept it!

Therefore I've been holding my breath for you all and hoping Thomson hadn't made a change on this one too - fortunately not.

So I'm really pleased for you all after all the angst associated with the concern/disappointment that your itinerary had been changed! Relief all round. You can now look forward to and continue planning your cruises. Go on geo - it's what you wanted to hear so go for it! ;) :)

Thank you Kruzseeka, for keeping that to yourself. :) It was a wise move. Mind you, your experience does show that if you have a genuine concern, if you are determined, Thomson will (or would then) eventually agree to sort it out. But in the meantime it does lead to irritation and anxiety for those concerned.
