Enquiring minds want to know...

Recommended Posts

I am sailing for the fist time on EOS, and have some questions..

1--Are you required to take your passport off of the ship with you? If so, how do you keep it secure while in the ocean?

2--How early can you get to port and get on the ship?

3--Any MUST SEE/MUST DO/MUST EAT places in Nassau? Coco Key?

4--What MUST AVOID things are in Nassau?

5--I completed my online checkin--Do I use those luggage tags that printed off, or will get other ones?

6--Are you allowed to take a glass of wine out of your stateroom without paying the $25 fee?

7--I want to buy the soda package. What happens if you lose your special cup or it's stolen?

8--Any one have photos of a D1 balcony room?

Thanks all!

I can help with a couple of questions:

5: The luggage tag image that is part of the SetSail pass is not the one to attach to your bags. The website will show another button at about 49 days called "Print Luggage Tags". This is the version you can print, fold, and attach to your bags.

6: Yes, you can take a glass of wine out of your stateroom without paying the corkage fee.

No, you are not required to carry your passport off ship. Goverment ID such as a drivers license and seapass is usually all that is required. They do make water tight pouches that you could wear around neck. We never use our passports once on ship.

2--How early can you get to port and get on the ship?

Usually you can start boarding in the 11 o'clock hour

4--What MUST AVOID things are in Nassau?

Don't wander off alone, into heart of Nassau. Paradise Island is fine.

RCL will not send you any other luggage tags. Use what you print out. We print them out and then put them in a clear plastic luggage tag and then attach them.

6--Are you allowed to take a glass of wine out of your stateroom without paying the $25 fee?

You can take glasses of wine anywhere without the fee. We usually get two clean glasses each night when we leave the MDR, that way we can leave the empty glasses at any lounge or food venue.

We've been to Nassau too many times. The absolute best excursion was the dolphin encounter at Blue Lagoon Island. Our kids loved it and the two old folks with them loved it too.;)

If you want a quieter day you can still buy day passes to the beaches at several hotels that are a short cab ride from the pier. We went to the Sheridan on Cable beach.

Have fun!

I am sailing for the fist time on EOS, and have some questions..

1--Are you required to take your passport off of the ship with you? If so, how do you keep it secure while in the ocean? We take a copy of our passports with us. Make a copy and keep in your wallet or purse

2--How early can you get to port and get on the ship? They typically start boarding Diamond Plus Guests around 11 am.

3--Any MUST SEE/MUST DO/MUST EAT places in Nassau? Coco Key? We really like the snorkelling in CoCo Cay. Nassau...we usually just hit a beach and chill

4--What MUST AVOID things are in Nassau? Id like to say the straw market, only because its the same stuff every isle. If your looking for souvenirs, maybe swing by, but you will get bored quick in there.

5--I completed my online checkin--Do I use those luggage tags that printed off, or will get other ones? Print the ones on the Set Sail Pass. We print them, then laminate them to ensure they are durable.

6--Are you allowed to take a glass of wine out of your stateroom without paying the $25 fee? Not Sure...

7--I want to buy the soda package. What happens if you lose your special cup or it's stolen? They add a deal to your sea pass, so you will get soda, just not sure if they will give you another RCI Mug

8--Any one have photos of a D1 balcony room? You can do a search for your cabin or D1 cabins for pix.

Thanks all!

Welcome to Cruise Critic! I can try and help you with a few of your questions.

1. You are only required to bring photo ID. However, my family brings our passports in a special travel pouch whenever we get off the ship - if something were to happen that would cause us to miss the ship, it's great to have your passport with you. It's a good travel habit to have, cruising or not.

2. Realistically, ships typically begin boarding around 11:30 or 12. HOWEVER, this is completely dependent on official clearance - there could be a surprise inspection that delays boarding by two hours, you really never know. I would count on 11:30-ish, though.

5. Yes, simply fold them as indicated. We "laminate" them with clear packing tape. If for some reason you can't print them or forgot them, there are blank tags at the pier that you can fill out, but this will take extra time and is not usually recommended.

Have a great cruise!

Bay St in Nassau is safe, but it's all shops. There is a Señor Frog's on the waterfront. Turn right when you get off the ship. Kind of a party place but decent food. I wouldn't go to a locals bar, not as safe as 20 years ago. Or I'm less brave.

You can carry your glass if wine into the MDR and still won't be charged corkage.
