Serving Police/Retired Officers

I have read that if you are a member of the armed forces or retired you qualify for some benefits, does this apply if you are a serving Police Officer or a retired one?

Military credit has been around for about two years. I've never seen or heard of anything for law enforcement.

From Military Cruise Benefit Program page on Princess' website:

Military Benefit for Veterans and Active/Retired Personnel

To thank the brave men and women of the American and Canadian militaries for their service, Princess Cruises offers up to $250 free onboard spending money* for veterans as well as active, retired or disabled military personnel. This special military benefit is eligible on any cruise, any time of the year and can be used to purchase a wide variety of amenities and experiences including Lotus Spa treatments; dining in our specialty restaurants; gifts, jewelry and clothing in our onboard boutiques; and Princess Cruises shore excursions.

So unless the OP is an expat Yank or Canuck living on the Isle of Man, whether or not the military benefit applies to other first responders is moot (for him at least).

Looking at the web site designed mainly for USA and Canada cruisers, that is the wording you will see. I suspect that someone signing on from a UK web address will see how the program apples to them.

But, on the Princess web site in the USA is this information:

In order to qualify for the Military Personal Benefit Program, you must have served in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard or Reserves or the Canadian National Defense Forces. The program is also open to British Army, Royal Marines, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force or Reserves. Active and retired members of these services are also eligible to apply.

HAL, X, RCI offer LEO/FF/EMS discounts on some of their sailings. I have not heard Princess offering this type of discount.

On the Australian Princess site it has the following.

"To thank the brave men and women of the Australian and New Zealand Defence Force for their service, Princess Cruises offers up to $250 free onboard spending money* for veterans as well as active, retired or disabled military personnel.":)

RCCL give benefits to over 55's....why not princess

I believe RCCL also gives credit to active and retired police, fire, first responders... at least they used to.

My experience earlier this year on RCCL was that these 'discounts' & the military discount were small amounts. I prefer the bigger Princess military OBC which is combinable with other OBC such as shareholder & FCC.

if you dont get the military discount the over 55's discount is better than nothing

I am a retired environmental chemist. I think that I should get a discount also.

On the other hand, Princess allows TAs to discount cruises so you can save 10-20% off the cost of a cruise. AND get OBC and perks from your TA. Plus, Princess allows you to combine OBC. You don't have to choose which OBC... you get it all: TA, shareholder, FCC, military, etc. On my next cruise, I'll have over $500 in OBC from various sources... and that's just for me and I'm paying about 20% less than the current cost of a similar cabin on the Royal Maiden Passage. :)

I get the impression that RCI is big on offering small discounts, but not allowing any of them to be combined. So in reality few people get many of the ones they may be eligible for.

Sometimes the cruise price is lower for police, firemen, teachers, etc.. Check before you book to see what is available for a discount. it can also be for the state you live in. Not all lines give all discounts. It pays to shop around.

I'm sorry ... I was under the impression OP was asking about discounts or OBC for active or retired police. I was just pointing out that RCCL does give discounts for them. I didn't say they were great discounts.
