JennyD1 Posted August 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2013 We cruised on Carnival Paradise last year from Tampa to Grand Cayman and Cozumel (5 day) and the last night they had a Fun Farewell Party from 5pm to 6pm. It was great; good band and free drinks. Has anyone cruised on the Paradise recently and do they still have this party? We are doing this cruise again next month and just wondering. bluemarie2 Posted August 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Sadly, Carnival has done away with the Fun Farewell party on all their ships. They claim it was due to low attendance.
TwinPrincessMermaids Posted August 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Low attendance, yes..I'm sure a live band and free drinks had nothing to do with it... Winkwink Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Forums mobile app
crusinpsychRN Posted August 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Farewell party was my favorite! On Inspiration a few cruises ago I was the only guest in the venue at 5pm when the party started. There were about 15 staff there. I stepped over to the Violins bar just steps away and told a bunch of people the party was starting--free drinks!!--but they didn't believe me!! Finally, a few of them followed me, they went out and got a few more people and before long we had the wildest dance party on the ship in full bore! They didn't believe they could order any drink they wanted so they dared the bartender ordering Long Islands and were more than smiling when they each were served a really good drink. That's one party I'll never forget! We danced with crew members who were having as good a time as we were. Bring back the Farewell Party!!

By poorly advertising it the farewell party was set up to fail. Shame as it was always a lot of fun.
JennyD1 Posted August 11, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted August 11, 2013 They didn't publicize the "free drink" part or everyone would have been there. The pool bartender told my husband about it and we really didn't believe that there would be free drinks, but they were. Anything you wanted, it was a really fun time. Too bad they did away with this perk!:(

Sargent_Schultz Posted August 12, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2013 It was advertised the first day and the the day of the event. It was poorly attended despite being widely publicized on CC. The few times I went it was poorly attended. It seemed there were almost as many kids as adults. Free drinks or not, not my kind of party. More times than not, I didn't attend. mzloolue Posted August 12, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 12, 2013 I went to a bunch of Fun Farewell Parties and they were all fun. It was a secret party. Really. No matter what you hear otherwise. At all of them I attended there was live music, a vocalist, dancing, whatever drink you wanted to order, munchies, and fabulous service. I really miss them. It was my favorite ship activity. And one of the few that I actually participated in.
