toodycat Posted August 11, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2013 DH and I are cruising without the rest of the family for the first time ever in February 2014. We want an amazing, romantic trip. We are on the Royal Princess which arrives in St. Maarten on a Thursday at 7 a.m. and departs at 6 p.m. However, we have cruised to St. Maarten a lot---maybe ten times, plus visited as part of our honeymoon---and it is not our favorite island. We prefer the Western Caribbean, but wanted to try the Royal Princess which is cruising the Eastern Caribbean that week. I started to suggest that we had made a mistake and should change our booking to a Western itinerary on another ship, but DH said we should leave our plans as they are and find something amazing and new to do in St. Maarten. We have already been to Phillipsburg, shopped in Marigot, visited Orient Beach, done the 12 meter regatta three times, toured the island by car, snorkeled and taken an Atlantis submarine trip. Neither of us wants to do anything with dolphins and we don't like casinos or golf. Does anyone have any interesting suggestions for our day in St. Maarten? I was thinking about the ferry to Anguilla or St. Bart's. Would we have sufficient time to do that? Thanks for your help!
SeaBands Posted August 11, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 11, 2013 and have a romantic lunch with wine in one of the French restaurants near the new harbor.
Karysa Posted August 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2013 Romantic ideas would include renting a cabana at Loterie Farm, lunch at La Samana resort, renting a boat and a skipper if needed from the Boathoase boat rentals and exploring the island and some remote beaches by boat.
