What do you do the morning of your cruise?

Shame on me:eek:. I usually fly in the morning of cruise when sailing from Florida. This time I am staying at a hotel in Cocoa Beach the night before. So what do you do the morning prior to going to the cruise ship? Doesn't seem like a lot of time if I want to head to the ship around noon, but I am an early riser. How to "kill" five hours or so when you're out of town? :)

We head to the ship earlier, more like 10:30 or so. We have breakfast, pack up our stuff. I attach the cruise line luggage tags. Often in FLL, we rent a car, so we check out 9:30 or so. Drive to the port and drop the bags about 10. Drive to the airport, return the car and take their shuttle to the ship.

We sleep in, have a leisurely breakfast, and head to the ship around 10:30am.

We don't get up at the crack of dawn! So, we eat a late breakfast, and head to the ship, arriving around 11:30.....just in time for boarding to begin! Since we've just eaten, we can avoid the "feeding frenzy" that seems to be the 1st thing everyone wants to do! I wear my bathing suit under my clothes, so I can head straight to the pool, even if the cabins aren't ready!

You want to get on the ship and start using what you've paid for ASAP!

If I'm leaving out of FLL, I'm flying in; I take the red eye from the Left Coast which gets me in about 10:30. If I'm leaving from SFO, I'm on the train into The City, only a 90 minute ride.

Sleep in. Have a leisurely breakfast. Hang out and relax at the pool or beach. Drink a Bloody Mary.

Of course, a lot of this depends on the hotel you are in and the amenities it offers or what's around the immediate area of the hotel.

I wake up really early due to trouble sleeping from the excitement about my cruise. Then try to go back to sleep, but no such luck. Eventually I throw in the towel, and decide to get up early anyway. Then I go eat breakfast at the hotel (I always book a room that includes it), before the buffet gets picked clean. Now fully awake from the coffee, I repack whatever I unpacked the night before, and go wander around in the streets until it's time to catch my shuttle. Finally, it's checkout time, and off to the ship!

DW and I would go for a 5 mile run.

We always go in a day early and usually stay at an Embassy Suites. We sleep in, go down for our hot cooked to order breakfast, go back to the room to leisurely pack up. By then it is usually late enough to catch a taxi or our shuttle to the ship. We like low stress, no need to rush, embarkation days.

We prefer to avoid the lines, or wait for an hour sitting in a chair at a terminal. So, we find something of interest, a tour, a leisurely brunch, take a long walk, see a museum, etc... Then we get to the ship around 1:30-2:30 and walk right on, no lines at the counter or security.

Neither of us miss that hour or so of being on the ship, we'll be on it for the next week or so. Neither of us care to be the first ones aboard and we don't miss the first buffet, typically we've already eaten somewhere else.

It sounds weird, but our luggage usually makes it to our cabin faster this way. We've even had times where the luggage beats us to the cabin. My theory is that it is on the top of the heap, not the bottom. It's been to our cabin within an hour of boarding for us the last, probably 10, cruises for us.

Same here! Once on the ship, we are ready to go to a bar, relax, and have a drink! :D

Absolutely agree with this! We used to rush to the pier just to stand in line; now after a leisurely morning lying by the hotel pool, we have lunch there and then get to the ship around 1:30/2:00 and walk right onboard.

I hit a store and buy all the stuff I didn't want to pack in my suitcase in case it made a mess in my suitcase while flying or made my bag overweight. So sunscreen, hair products, lotion, like that. Plus my two bottles of wine that I'm allowed to take on RCI!

Same here. I like to get out and take a walk in the morning, have breakfast, find a liquor store to buy whatever we are going to carry on, etc. If there's a museum or something to see, even better. The last couple of cruises we've gone out to lunch on land and arrived at the ship as late as possible, which allowed us to stroll right on with no lines at all.

Whether we sail out of our home port or not we still have the same routine. Breakfast, pack last few minutes, wait, walk around, peak at cruise critic, wait some more, glance at watch fourteen times and head to the pier by 10 or 10:30 am.

We usually stay at the Embassy in Ft. Lauderdale. The night before, I usually make sure bags are properly packed, and all necessary documents are together, and within easy reach.

In the morning, I usually get up early, head to the buffet for a cup of coffee, and take it out to the pool area. A beautiful place to start the day. Lost of greenery, a few fish, water, and quiet. About 8:00 I head back to the room to wake up DH. We head to the buffet for our free, cooked breakfast. After breakfast, we go back to our room, double check cruise documents, and check the local weather. About 10:00, we head to the lobby to get the shuttle we reserved for 10:15, then head to the port. I would rather wait there, then wait at the hotel.

I will definitely be doing this. :D
