HELP....I am in a dilemma right now I have a balcony room on deck 15

I am thinking we may want a bigger room as I am hearing balconies and rooms are smaller than norm....What do you think is it really worth the extra money for a larger room and balcony or not.

thanks really appreciate input need to decide soon.

So...I was at a family birthday dinner last night...sitting with my wife's older sister and her husband and with my wife's brother and his wife...

My Sister-in-law is coming up on an Alaska cruisetour on HAL in a few weeks...My Brother-in-law is headed out in two weeks on an Alaska cruisetour on Princess...and, we've got two cruises upcoming in the next few months on Golden Princess and on RCCL Allure of the Seas...

We've booked standard balcony cabins on both...

My Sister-in-law only likes to have a mini-suite...She says she spends a lot of time in her cabin and NEEDS space...

My Brother-in-law CLAIMS he can't remember what sort of cabin he booked, but, knowing him, I'm taking a decent bet it's an "inside" and he just didn't want to say...

Whereas my sister-in-law is convinced that all that extra square footage is entirely necessary...and my brother-in-law is only concerned with the price...I am very happy with an ordinary balcony...To me, there's "enough" space...I MOSTLY use the cabin to sleep, get dressed and use the bathroom. For that, even an inside cabin could work...The balcony just gives the feeling of a little extra space...along with the ability to pop outside for some fresh air...and to go out and enjoy those few times I'm on the ship and not busy elsewhere being fed or entertained...

So, really, it all depends on personal preference and lifestyle...

How much time do YOU actually spend in the cabin?

How do YOU use the cabin?

Do you like a lot of "alone time", away from your fellow passengers?

Also, what is your itinerary? Is it port-intensive or are there a lot of "at sea" days?

To ME, I like the extra space of a suite...and, if the price differential is very small, at times, I will spring for it--IF it's an itinerary where I can see myself having the time to enjoy it...

BUT, normally, I think the money is best spent on other things--a nice pre- or post cruise extension, private tours...or even another cruise...

Of course, that's just me...For me, there is so much to see and do out and around the ship and in the ports, that the smaller standard cabins work just fine...They look just like a suite at night when all the lights are out and I'm asleep...

paul is that 50.00 a day or all total...hahaha..It will cost way more than 50.00 its a week cruise...well actually its 50.00 a person a day.

Per person per week. I am happy with a balcony. It is just my wife and I traveling, so while a little more room on the balcony would be nice, it is not a big deal to me. So I would not pay much for it. I know with the low "bid" I will not have much chance

How many people are in the room? Two adults in a regular balcony on the Royal is no problem - just spent 21 days in one with my daughter. Two adults and one child would be workable. More than that would be a challenge, but, depending on the amount of time you are planning to spend in the room, doable for some.

Personally, I would invest the extra dollars on other onboard special activities, like the crabshack, seafood terrace, etc.

Thanks everyone you made my decision for me...sticking with my balcony room... it was going to cost about 700.00 more for the trip to move... I think with that 700.00 I will buy myself something NICE AND SHINEY IN ST. THOMAS... Hope to see some of you there...
