Cruisin 4 Ever Posted August 12, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 12, 2013 I just booked a fantastic looking cruise for January 18th aboard the Liberty. The first thing I did as soon as I booked it was go to the shore excursions to book a cabana at Half moon cay and faster to the fun. Both are sold out!! I'm surprised so early. Anyway, does anyone know if there is a waiting list?

ripjerry95 Posted August 12, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2013 When I booked my cruise on the ecstasy last summer Carnival kept sending me notices about FTTF. So they may do the same for you. I booked my cruise 60 days out. Send from device_name using Cruise Critic your_app_name App

rtap23 Posted August 12, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Just keep checking. I'm sure something will open up. No matter what you are going to enjoy the Liberty. IMO it is one of the best ship and crew from carnival
Cruisin 4 Ever Posted August 12, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Thanks everybody, I will keep checking back. And for the not so nice poster, I am bringing my in laws who are in their 70's on this cruise. They had never cruised until this past January when they joined us for their first cruise. We surprised them with the cabana - my 72 year old FIL has breathing problems and cannot tolerate the heat. So we splurged and treated them to a cabana so they could also enjoy the island. Unfortunately, our ship did not make it to the island as there was a thruster problem. They loved cruising so much that we are trying to go again this year and wanted to try again to treat them to this cabana.

Daddyfto Posted August 12, 2013 #12 Share Posted August 12, 2013 BAM! And good for you! Never understood why non-contributors feel compelled to sniper. What do you mean non contributor you have 117 posts and I have 106? like it matters? Hey if you have some seniors in your group than maybe the cabana is a good idea? I just know when I was there last winter all the cabanas were rented but no one was in them everyone was sitting out front of them where the rest of us who didn't pay $230 were. The first off the ship is not really a perk as we had tender tickets # 4 and were on the first tender. Just my opinion but the Cabanas are a cash grab for people who feel the need to have something the commoners don't have ...basic human nature ...but not for me

I can assure you my husband will be putting in some overtime to pay the extra 230.00 so his father can enjoy himself. I don't know if it will be 70 or 90 out that day, but either way, my in-laws are not young and the cabana and FTTF were nice little perks we wanted to treat them to. I believe what was meant by a non-contributor was about what you were contributing to this thread - something like the old adage - if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all. BigRed93 Posted August 12, 2013 #14 Share Posted August 12, 2013 You may also want to go to the excursion desk immediately upon boarding and check. Once upon a time, they had held back a certain number to be booked on board. I have no idea if that is still in effect, but worth a try. belkin Posted August 12, 2013 #15 Share Posted August 12, 2013 Keep checking on the FTTF hopefully they will offer them again before you sail. As far as the cabana goes I am not sure if there is a waiting list. I know when I rented one for our upcoming cruise the email confirmation came from admin@carnival.com . Maybe you could send them an email and see if you could get on a waiting list. I would also check for the cabanas every day as well. You never know someone may cancel their cruise or decide they don't need it. If you still don't have one by the time you cruise go straight to the shore excursion desk after you board and see if they can help you. Hope you are able to get what you want. Have a great cruise!! Jamman54 Posted August 12, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 12, 2013 For the FTTF, as others have said, keep checking, as they may release more closer to the sailing date after they have a better idea how many Diamonds & Platinums will be aboard. As for the Cabana, Keep checking the excursions, especially around the time final payment is due, as most cancellations occur at that time. But even if that doesn't work don't despair. Last August I booked a cruise on the Fascination at the last minute, and of course the cabanas were sold out. As soon as we boarded we went right to the Shore Excursion Desk and inquired if any were available. There weren't any available then but they put me on a waiting list, and sure enough, the night before we got to HMC I got a call telling me that they had a cabana for me. Of course I didn't get to pick my location, which is fine by me. (wound up with # 14). I've read many accounts of people getting their cabanas this way, so it does happen!! Good Luck!! BananaAnna Posted August 12, 2013 #18 Share Posted August 12, 2013 if you've joined your roll call let them know you're interested in a cabana. on my may cruise we booked late, no cabanas to be had - but when someone on our roll call opted to upgrade to a villa she asked if i wanted her cabana! i sent her a check prior to the cruise and we were thrilled to get it! If I were you, I would head to the shore excursion desk as soon as they open after you board and inquire about the cabana waitlist. You never know who might be a no-show or change their mind. Maybe something will open up for you. Hope the rest of your cruise is awesome! It isn't unheard of for the tender ports like HMC to be cancelled in the Winter due to weather. That happened to me on a HMC call over Christmas, and we lost our cabana experience and our beach day at HMC on my birthday. It does tend to be windier in the Winter. It's all part of cruising though, and you just have to go with the flow and make lemonade.

We did something similar on our 2011 cruise that went to HMC. Several of us on the roll call had reserved cabanas, then one member learned that the Grand Cabana was open. A number of us went in together to reserve it, and then we let the roll call folks who were looking for cabanas know when we were releasing the cabanas we had reserved. It worked for them. And I do understand why a cabana. If you're anything like us - fair, Northern European descent, burn easily, and have a family history of skin cancer - you're not sitting out in the sun at HMC.
