IRL_Joanie Posted August 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Hey all, Hubby discovered that the prices for our cruise has dropped!! For us, on Zuiderdam 29 November 2013, it is a $400.00 per person drop. You all need to check and see if your Cruise and Stateroom category has dropped as well!! I not only sent the direct link, I also took a snap shot of the page and sent my HAL PCC an email with the attachment and asked for the drop:) My HAL PCC's Stand in, while our normal one is on Medical Leave, just called me less than 5 minutes ago and he has revised our Cruise to show the $400.00 price drop:) ADDED: This did not require any rebooking, just revised the price:) Joanie

Thanks again. Lorraine
Rare Vict0riann Posted August 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Thanks, Joanie, looks like ours has remained the same, after we took advantage of a price drop in May. I try to remember to check when I see there's a sale on, but often forget!

magandab Posted August 15, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2013 Thanks for the heads up Joanie! We are on the cruise right after yours, and our price dropped by the same amount. Call in to TA right now.
metairiegal Posted August 15, 2013 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2013 I noticed the price changes and have called about our December cruise on the Eurodam. I want to go to slightly higher category - which is now the same exact price that we currently booked at (have not paid our balance). But they say no because we have a shipboard credit that is "not combinable." (Our current category is now $50 less than the price we booked at, but they say we can't get the lower price because it is not combinable with the lower price either.) I have a feeling DH will say no, we've already done two cruises this year! I may skillfully mention it to him, though. :)
magandab Posted August 15, 2013 #13 Share Posted August 15, 2013 We got the price drop for our 12/9/13 11-day cruise on the Z-dam. Wh had booked an SB so were given the choice of an $800 refund or choosing an SA cabin and getting a $700 refund. We chose our cabin and are as happy as can be. Note: if you booked with the $140 anniversary OBC you will lose that if you take the lower price. At least we did.

boze9999 Posted August 16, 2013 #16 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Alerts are always appreciated! Our three booked cruises have either remained the same or gone up. You never know, so it's ALWAYS worth checking every week or so!
tigragirl Posted August 16, 2013 #17 Share Posted August 16, 2013 I don't think us Brits can benefit by price drops. I think the price we pay is the price that stays:(
fokeltje Posted August 16, 2013 #18 Share Posted August 16, 2013 In the Netherlands the same story: once booked, your fare will stay fixed. It is time that the pricing system is the same for everyone. Cruise companies maintain that differences exist because of different rules in different countries. I do not think that there is a legal rule in our country that prevents a cruise company from lowering their prices and give the benefits to booked pax as well. It also seems that our TA's are never able to arrange individual OBC, also something I read a lot about on this forum.

If you book a next cruise on the ship or buy the Future cruise certificate a good TA or HAL will give you the lower price if you are before final payment day. We had it done several times for a cruise last year. OBC is another story, TA's here are not that giving:(

Even though the higher category is the same exact price that we paid for our current category.

Irish Eyes Are Sailing Posted August 16, 2013 #22 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Thanks for the "heads up" Joanie. Unfortunately our category is sold out for our upcoming cruise. Cheers! Whenever I see price drops on the HAL site for my cruise I call my TA and she calls HAL and there is never a price reduction......I have now made final payment, so it is probably a moot point, but I saw this comment by this poster and wondered...... If your category is sold out, does that mean you don't get a price reduction even though the reduction is out there for other categories? Just curious, maybe someone can enlighten me...Thanks. PS we also have OBC for this cruise....could this be the issue??
greatver Posted August 16, 2013 #23 Share Posted August 16, 2013 We just took advantage of price drop on upcoming transAtlantic on Ryndam (days before final payment due!). Lost $50 OBC but still came out ahead. Cruise pricing is a funny business, you have to be alert and check periodically to catch changes.
greatver Posted August 16, 2013 #24 Share Posted August 16, 2013 Linda, From what I've noticed, price cuts are not "across the board" but are function of category you're in and how well it's selling.
