LizC Posted August 18, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2013 We are on a 9 night cruise. I believe that is two formal nights is that correct? Also anyone who has cruised RCCl in Europe please let me know if itis more formal. Should my husband rent/bring a tux or is a suit fine?
CVU Posted August 18, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2013 We didn't really notice a lot of difference last year on our 2 Med cruises on the Serenade. With traveling lighter now, we are not taking as much for formal night. DH last Fall, left his sport jacket at home, wore a dress shirt and tie and nice dress pants. He fit in just fine!!! Many other men were dressed similarly. There were suits and tux too....... It is becoming very difficult to travel with more luggage, when one wants to do the train etc. and move around. It is your holiday, so be comfortable.:)
Langley Cruisers Posted August 18, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2013 Did not notice a difference in the "formality" of FN due to geographic location. If he wants to take his tux he will look smashing, but a suit is absolutely fine and in fact you will see more suits than tuxedos. And yes, should be 2 FN. EDITED TO ADD: Ooo, I see you made Diamond on your previous cruise, so now you will be cruising as Diamond! Congratulations! Very nice. :)
griffy116 Posted August 18, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2013 I had been told it was more formal, but I honestly didn't notice it on our cruise on Navigator last summer. My Grandson took the suit and dress shoes, which I must admit took up a lot of room in the suitcase..he's 19 and the shoes are enormous. Even if he doesn't take the jacket, the shoes are pretty bulky but I don't see any way to avoid that one. We saw men without the jacket, in suits and very few in a tux. Saw every few of the fancy gowns. Most everyone did the same as we did...nice dress pants with 2 different sparkly tops. Trying to pack light seemed to be everyone's goal. onlyonetrevorfrancis Posted August 18, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2013 It looked like way more tux's than suits on our Liberty cruise this summer. A real mix of nationalities so whether that had anything to do with it.
