2 cabin question regarding switching occupants

OK - here is what I hope is ok to do. Please confirm.

1. Book a cabin in my name and DIL to qualify for best rate

2. Book a cabin in husband's name and son to qualify for best rate

3. Claim each room with our 100 (only shares of Carnival stock) for $100 for each room OBC

But the question is this - do I then legally go to the purser's desk and switch so my son and wife are in the same room? They would not qualify for the stock OBC or the special rate I can get otherwise. Or is this not legal to do?

We're going on a cruise with another couple in Feb who have never cruised before. My boyfriend and I both have, so we qualified for the lower past guest rate. Our PVP booked my boyfriend/his friend in one room and myself/the other friend in another room.

He told me to go to guest services when we get on board, and to tell them that in order to take advantage of a promotion, our PVP booked us separately. He said they will then change the keys so the right people are together.

I believe the best thing to do is to purchase Cheers first, then go to Guest Services to have the mag strips on the S&S cards reassigned.

Thanks, that makes sense. It sure sounds like it's easy to have them change things around. Thanks for your help.

You are most welcome.

It's very easy and takes only a couple of minutes. Once at Guest services, tell them that you would like your wife to switch into your cabin with you and your child into the cabin with his/her siblings. The cards will be swiped so the info on the mag strip will reflect the changes. You can also ask them to make an extra key or two for you to have access to your kids' cabin.

That's a fantastic idea!!! Thanks so much!

Good thread, with lots of info directly applicable to our next Carnival cruise (Breeze in June with niece/nephew/in-law.) Since my husband and I are booked in different cabins, we will certainly *try* for two stockholder OBCs. Hey, it can't help to give it a try, right? Thanks, everyone!

Do or do not, there is no try. :D

When you do fax the stock info, remember to do them separately. I typed my booking info on one cover page and DH's on another. He faxed my page with the stock statement, waited five minutes, then faxed his page with the stock statement.

Good luck.

Fax the stock statement separately, and may be several days apart. It is hard for the people who process the stock OBC to trace them togather, then it should be OK. But you do have to have a joined account with both of your names on the statement.

We switch cabins all the time. Reason 1, we cannot just book my kids (12 and 16 now) in one cabin. Reason 2, I want shareholder OBC for both cabins (we have separate accounts though). Reason 3, I want FCC for both cabins, when we still had it. Never had any problems.

I'm not doubting that people have had success with 100 shares in two names counting for two cabins. Ive read that on cruise critic before. But, that was NOT our experience. We did try it, faxing different days and not involving PVP, but the second was not recognized. Consequently, we purchased a second 100. Even then, we had a problem with our last trip and needed intervention from our PVP, a d we legitimately own 200 shares! Out of curiosity, well try again for upcoming cruise. We have our extra 100, so we will get it eventually.
