Sparky333 Posted August 19, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Hi Felicia, Sorry I don't know the answer to your question. But just in case you're also looking for info on Belgrade in general I'll pass on this link to a Wall St. Journal article on things to do in Belgrade. I've been having a hard time finding a lot of info about Belgrade - maybe you have too. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323477604579000832287122414.html?mod=WeekendHeader_Rotator I hope it's okay to put that link in
franski Posted August 19, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2013 Hi Felicia - You dock within walking distance of the Fortress and the pedestrian mall/shopping are. There are quite a few stairs in the area - so if stairs are an issue, plan your route (some areas have less stairs, although they are also less direct....). I'll read about it in a few. We aren't there that long, and I think I've found 2 things of interest, after the Viking excursion. One is the village called Skadarska, which appears to be a quaint, old village, with lots of outdoor cafes and not very touristy. The other is a walking communist tour. It goes around the city and (walking) the guide relays a lot of the history before and during communism. Here's the link if you're interested. http://www.belgradewalkingtours.com/other-tours/communist-tour Felicia

I never had a problem with my knees until I went to Japan where everything was UPHILL, then DOWNHILL, and ever since then, my knees don't like stairs! I can do them, but am not a fan and certainly don't want to overdo. Thanks for letting me have an idea of the vicinity of where the ship was. I want to plan out what I'll be doing, how to get there, etc as I like to walk if I can and avoid taxis. (Have read horror stories about tourists and taxis.) Sparky333 Posted August 25, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 25, 2013 Hi Felicia - thanks for that link - that looks like an interesting tour. It sounds like we will have one afternoon/evening free in Belgrade so that tour night work well.
travelinjudy Posted August 25, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 25, 2013 Does anyone know where Viking docks in Belgrade? Thanks. Felicia Hi, Just got off the Viking Elba. In Belgrade, Viking provided hourly shuttles to the center and back. We got off the tour bus at the end of the included tour, had lunch in town, and walked back to the ship. The stairs mentioned are not too bad if you are walking down, but with bad knees the would be tough to navigate either way. Belgrade is a great city to explore.:)
