Vow Renewal

Emdee.

Is the wedding vow renewel ceremony a lot different than the honeymoon ceremony. I believe they both occur the first evening in Bora Bora...correct? We have signed up for the Honeymoon blessing during our cruise as we will have been married just 4 weeks earlier:)

The first evening at BB the ceremony is the free one. We have been a few times for that one.

The Vow renewal inclusions are listed in the website. We had a vow renewal by the Captain. Then, Michael Shapiro the CD read a poem by Kahlil GIbran. Each of us made a small speech. This was followed by Champagne( real stuff) and Chocolate strawberries. It was very well done. Made more memorable because we had both family and friends present and we are very fond of the PG staff who were there. We were allowed to invite 8 guests. My DD gave it to us as an anniversary present!

When we go on the Repeaters next year my cousins will be coming with us to celebrate their 40th anniversary and I intend giving them the Vow renewal as a gift.

Great info. My husband and I have been talking about the vow renewal for our 20th next year.

With the price reduced, is the ceremony still private, or is it part of the one that anyone can participate in?

Ia Orana Ducklite,

The $300 Renewal of Vows Package includes a private vow renewal ceremony. We look forward to celebrating your 20th with you!

Capri73, This is Emdee's DD. I actually bought her the package in 2011 for her 30th anniversary. The one you describe seems to be the free ceremony. You can pay for the anniversary package in the past that included the picture from that ceremony, champagne and flowers that was the cheaper of the two paid options.

The vow renewal, the more expensive option is a private ceremony and rarely occurs. In fact when I booked it for her they CD Michael and Hina mentioned the week before and her ceremony were the first ones they had in over 2 years.

For anyone interested in the private ceremony be prepared to discuss on board with the staff, they were very flexible with dates and location. With the paid option they also invite you to the free ceremony if you want to attend.

Emdee's DD...taking over while Emdee is on her TA for the next two weeks.

That is not how they did it this time. The people who paid did not have a private ceremony. They got a free photo and champagne in the room.Nothing else.

On the cruise there were quite a few repeaters who said the ship has gone downhill fast. They could not believe all the cutbacks. This might be one of them. All said they would not return.

The trip was awful I could never recommend this cruise to anyone.

Capri 73, if you look at the link pg staff posted earlier you will see two packages. Only the more expensive one includes a private vow renewal as stated in the package online. The individuals who purchased it may have purchased the anniversary package. That package IMO is not worth it and never included the private vow renewal.

Also, if you really want to splurge PG pre-cruise staff will be happy to coordinate with intercontinental bora bora for a formal ceremony in their wedding chapel. They offered me this option for my mother but I didn't want her to lose her day at the beautiful motu.

I sorry that you did not feel the love of pg and fp. Please do provide us all with a full review of everything including any pre cruise, as I am sure all the updates will help future newbies and repeaters of any changes.

Yes I was took part in the anniversary ceremony a couple of years ago and it is exactly how Capri described - the free one. Somewhere on your cruise there was a serious disconnect it seems. Capri - did you at least enjoy the islands?

My DH and I paid $500 for the vow renewal ceremony almost 4 years ago. It was a lovely way to celebrate our 25th anniversary! The cruise director suggested, and we agreed, to hold the ceremony on the day we were on Ta'haa. The Captain performed a sweet ceremony, Les Gaugines and a couple of our friends were in attendance. We gathered on a flower covered 'platform' in the water with the lovely mountains and ship in the background. We were given flower leis. We had a champagne toast. Photos were taken. Later that night, canapes, more champagne and a small cake were delivered to our cabin. We felt this is the way we SHOULD have been married the first time!

PS -- we just booked another PG trip (our 5th)...for our 30th in November 2014. We won't do the whole ceremony again, just the 'freebie' celebration that happens onboard.:)

Thank you DD. this is what we are interested in--a private ceremony. The price seems quite reasonable.

Just confirmed with PG cruises no changes with the Vow Renewal Package from 2011 or even prior to that. They confirmed they decided to just reduce the price.

Capri73, as I mentioned in my poster earlier if you purchase the anniversary package and not vow renewal/wedding ceremony one you only get champagne, cake and picture. While I am sorry you didn't enjoy your cruise and am sorry those people chose the wrong package. I understand when you are against the majority of followers (I have similar feelings about Oceania) but hope you will give a more indepth review of the place since FP is always changing.

Ducklite- in 2011 they gave me a choice at the private ceremony if I wanted to serve cake or chocolate strawberries (I chose that option and they were very large and beautiful). My parents were suppose to have the ceremony poolechick described on Motu Mahana but sadly the weather did not agree and we still had a wonderful one on the bridge. Also, they use to limit your guests for this ceremony to 8 guest. I hope you have a wonderful anniversary whether you have the ceremony or not.

As of right now we are sailing with just the two of us and a handful of acquaintances at best. We think we'd rather just keep it private unless a good friend decides to join us on the cruise.
