Rare Scrapnana Posted August 19, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2013 When I went on cruises as a child, we always were given a list of all the passengers on board. When did the cruise lines do away with them?
wrigley80 Posted August 25, 2013 #2 Share Posted August 25, 2013 They can't post them anymore or give them out due to HIPPA law
WatchHill Posted August 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 27, 2013 HIPPA is health/medical privacy, NOT cruise line related. One does not sign a HIPPA acknowledgment receipt when taking a cruise. Passenger lists were published when many of us were not concerned about privacy. I recall fellow passengers requesting that their names not be listed in those little booklets. Elimination of this booklet varied with cruise lines, probably in the mid 80's. A divorce attorney I know has some interesting stories about passenger lists. Given the cut backs, I'm sure saving a few forests came into the decision, too. The bean counters no doubt figured how much money eliminating the lists saved. my crow's nest Posted September 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted September 24, 2013 Upon embarkation Seabourn passengers receive a form on which you can indicate if you would like to be included on the Passenger List. They list your name and your home city or country.
Cruz-OR Posted September 25, 2013 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2013 Wonder how much longer passenger names will be posted next to each cabin. It must be a chore to change these out for every new cruise.
